never used them.

Check out http://reviews.stangnet.com

They review everything, including tires. If your traction is that bad, try getting slicks.

Default Traction?

You should grip better with 4.10's compared to 3.73 or 3.27

What are you talking about. A gear that steep would rip through the tranny, your rpm's would peak SO much faster. How would taht ever equal MORE traction?

To tell you the truth I didn't see any improvement in traction when I had 17x10.5 with 315s compared to my 17x9 with 285s now, plus the 10.5" wheel and big tire slow you down on top end. If you already have the 10.5" wheel, then 315 is the right size.
What you need to do is learn how to slip the clutch off the line so you don't break traction.

Default tire spin

Mr Titan freshmen...let me answer you remark with a question? Is it easier to spin tires at dead stop or tires that are moving?

Either, depending on how fast you're going. I can be at a stop, put my car in second gear, drop the clutch and leave a hundred foot drag mark, pulling it through third. I can also be going around 15 mph and stomp the gas and the rear end goes which ever way the pavement is sloped (as long as I don't oversteer).

I don't konw what that has to do w/ traction, though. When I had my stock rear end in, I could never spin the tires like I do now...so, back to the original question--how does a steeper gear = more traction if all you do is punch the gas and the tires spin.

And before you come back w/ a smart-*ss remark for that, make sure you read the first two threads again. Miami said "WELL...I GOT MY 4.10'S IN AND I HAVE NO GRIP WHATSOEVER!!!" Now, ask him if his tires spun as much before he swapped his rear-end...

Unhappy traction

Sorry for yanking you chain guys...I wqs curious as to what comments I could pull out of the woodwork...FYI I own a daily driver 98 Cobra convt. pulling 510 rwhp on 91 octane...this iis my 3rd motor and 4th set of gears...of course lower gears will cause additional wheel spin. Its all in the tires, suspension and especially the driver..my last time was 11.02 @126 mph on the 91 octane. My new motor is running CP 8.3 pistons ,14 lbs boost with aftclr. (no icing) plus a lot more goodies . Latest rearend is 4.10 gears with 31 spleen axels and heavy duty eaton posi. putting out 800 lbs of torque to ea. wheel as oppose to the stock 350. I also have a 4 deg. advance module hooked into computer ( in glove box) iceing the aftclr. box and 4 deg. of additional advance. on racing fuel I should pull an additional 60 rwhp for a total of 570 rwhp. (have not tried it yet as I still have 2000 miles only on new motor. Waiting to change back to synthetic after 3000 miles, lthen race time.) good luck on yor traction problem hope I didn't offend any one else besides Mr. Titan..he sure knows his cars....

wow...gimme more money than I can spend and I'll be sure to come to california and meet up w/ you and deuce and head to the track....wow...all your modding talk really made me feel stupid...I'll go cowar down in a corner now...maimi, one more time--did you have better traction before or after your rear-end...

Oh ya, he already answered that: "MY TIRES SPIN LIKE I WAS ON ICE...THEY DIDN'T SPIN ANYWHERE NEAR AS MUCH AS THEY DO NOW WHEN I HAD THE STOCK GEARS"

Guess you're the only one, chica...

You know, I know enough to make you feel like a complete dumb*ss on this forum, but w/ respect to hammer and everybody else, I'm not going to. I could care less about your "510 RWHP on 91 octane gas" car and whatever else you want to brag about. I'm not getting in a pissing contest w/ someone who can't even spell windshield or radio...

When you change gears the amount of traction you have DOES NOT change - that is a function of tires, suspension, and weight balance. It just becomes more difficult not to overpower the tires when you put a steeper gear in, so basically if you have traction problems after a gear change you just need to relearn how to launch with the extra torque multiplication.
