Default Best syn fluids???

Hey all...

Opinions on the best fluids to run???

Engine oil
Tranny fluid
Rearend fluid

I think I wanna run synthetic in all, any suggestions??

The car only has 9800 miles on it. Is it to late to switch over to synthetic?

I've heard that you shouldnt switch from conventional oils to synthetic on a used vehicle. True?

Somethin about the build up that actually acts a seal around moving parts.

Let me know
Thanks in advance

Yep, they are all different Mobil 1 products. Even your local oil change place should have the Mobil 1 synthetics for the entire drivetrain.

I run royal purple trans & rear and mobil 1 for oil
but after being at my buddys shop and seeing a motor that had run royal purple oil the whole life of the motor but the break in I will be switching over cause the motor had 70k on it and when we pulled it apart it looked like it 70 miles on it you could still see the hone marks and the bearings were in the best shape I have ever seem in a car that was raced and beat of for 70k miles they looked brand new

Yes but have you seen a 70k motor torn apart, that has run mobile1 syn it's whole life???

Whos to say it's not as good, or if not better?

do you have something real to compare it to?

If so, I'll take your word for it and run purple
by the way... is the royal purple ACTUALLY purple?
or is it just the bottle thats purple?

if it is purple in color, thats kinda cool

I have my buddy that works at that shop as well that all he ran untill he spun a rod bearing
we drained the oil(only 1500 old) and his bearings were scorched
and the cyl wall looked like someone stuck a rock in between the ring and the wall

that motor only had 25k on it went it let go since then he has been running R/P and with his new setup spinning the motor to 9500 all day long pulled it out over the winter to check everything before race season and it looked perfect mind this motor has a whole race season and maybe 20k on it and a lot of stop light runs

Speaking of amsoil, I here that stuff is good for one year OR 25,000 miles.

Anybody out there using this stuff? If so, how long you running it?

I am using Mobile I. I don't care about the cost of oil if it's worth it. I am ready for a sesonal oil change soon and may change based on some good advice.

I would still change as the owner book says that came with car I dont care good a oil is I would never go that long without changing it

its not the oil breaking down that would bother me its the dirt that gets in the motor that the filter does not filter out that destroys bearings and rings so oils are just better againest friction then others

Amsoil recomends running a cleaner first before changing to their fluid AND filter changes during the 25,000 miles and topping off what you loose with the filter. Their filters are supposed to be really good too.

Seriously check out royalpurple.com

I got sold on it! WOW!

Sounds like awesome stuff... I am ordering motor, tranny, and rear end fluids next pay day!

Anyone have an opinion on K&N air filters? I've heard they can screw up the MAF by coating it with the filiment oil it uses... true??

Also.. are the K&N oil filters good?

K&N are the standard for filter greatness. I too have heard that once before...I think it is just a rumor. May happen if someone over coats it with oil after cleaning it I suppose.

yes and no
what happens
is the oil coats the wire for the maf causing it to pick up and hold dirt but its not that big of a deal
what you do it wait about a month after you but the K&N in and then get some elec. contact cleaner spray it on let it dry and put it back on the car and do this again a month after you clean your K&N it has become a routine for me anyway
