Default Kenne Bell 6-14psi TS charger for 2v mods

List price is $3799... comes complete.
I would run the non-intercooled verision w/ 6psi polley
nothing more

question is...

is it really worth 4g's to gain only 106 rwhp ???

Shop around, you can find other s/C's for less. And you won't gain 106 HP from any other mod except maybe N2O. The nitrous route is alot cheaper but the S/C is always ready. And remember there is always something you need to upgrade when adding 106 HP, so that 4K figure will probably go higher. As far as "worth it" goes, big power is BIG money!

well I know the rear end can handle the power. and I've heard the 5 speed tranny handles up to 500 hp no problem.

can you give me some examples of what i would need to upgrade if i add 106hp?

Whether the rear and tranny can handle the power all depends on whether you run slicks or not. Some stock Mach 1s are breaking the stock 28-spline axles on slicks and they aren't making as much power and torque as a Kenne Belle equipped 4.6 2V.

But if something breaks.. it'll most likely be a u-joint, right?
And maybe an axle shaft.

I can put in stronger u-joints and even upgrade to 31 spline carrier and axle shafts... just to be safe

It wont be for a long time before I can afford the KenneBell anyhow.. lol

Thanks

no the trans can not handle that much power i have had 1 go south at 260rwhp on the stock tires and no the rearend will not hold up I have 250rwhp car break axles and worse the spidet greas in the diff
and the clutch and the driveshaft will need to be changed
but as for spending 4k on 106 hp you will spend more then that to come close will a n/a setup

Two things..

1. I think the 8.8 solid axle is more durable than the Cobra's IRS... and the cobra has 390hp. So the stock 8.8 rear end should be plenty good enough for what I'm doing

2. Does anyone know how much hp the stock clutch can take before slipping??

Any suggestions on which clutch to get (when mine goes)??
And remember... I dont drag like you all do.. haha
Just a daily driver here

Thanks

the housing is stronger and can be made stronger but as for the diff and axles the 03 cobra stuff is stronger then the stock gt stuff

it depend on the abuse you put it through I have seen the stock clutch go into the mid 300s but then again I seen a stock clutch slip bad with 240hp(and clutch only had 3500 miles on it

if going with a blower you going to need a clutch in no way will ever be as nice on your leg or as d/d as the stock

Guy around town has a 99 GT, 5-spd, Vortech, plenty of bolt ons, running stock transmission and internals. A month ago I saw him run back to back 11.95's at 119 mph on drag radials. I'd say he has at least double your 100 hp figure. He has 105K miles on the car and hasn't broken anything yet. I've got about 150 over stock and nothing major broken yet (just had to replace the valve cover gaskets at 60k).

Glad someone offered a counter point.
An additional 100hp/trq can break things .... true, but at stock the same components can break.

I've been running just over 300+rwhp for several years - nothing broke yet.

JBeryleC - I'd suggestt riding in a superrcharged car (similar type) and make your call on if it's worth it.

I'd think it is.

Seriously, if you do the math........

$$$/HP and Tq. gained.....

A Supercharger is the most efficient means that is always present.

Why are you so hard on about the Kenne Belle Kit? My ATI kit kicks the **** outta a kenne belle and for less money, and with a 36k warranty.

JBeryleC -- I'm running the old SVO/ROUSH supercharger. 5+ years.

Back on Topic:
Well I think it's great there is a different offering from the centri set-ups. Diversity, is good.

Agreed, a lot of folks do realize it's the new thing and the gains are very inviting.

But my point remains, if haven't tried it you shouldn't knock it. Just make an informed decision, especially when you're dropping that kind of cash.

I personally would go with a Twin Turbo set-up. More HP and more Torque at lower boost. http://www.turbochargedpower.com/
