Question buildin a 4.6

I AM BUILDING A 4.6 UP AND I WAS WONDERING WHAT WOULD THE BEST WAY OF DOING IT? WHAT KIND OF KIT SHOULD I USE TO BUILD THE BOTTOM END UP? ARE THE CRANK SHAFTS IN THE F SERIES BIGGER THEN THE GT MUSTANG?

Concentrate mostly on the rods and pistons as those are the weak links in the modular engines. Some good forged pistons and some Manley H-Beam rods will make it very tough. For the bottom end just use a stud girdle. Crankwise, most people go with the Cobra crank but I think the 2V crank should do unless your going for real big power. Also, with the Cobra crank, you will need to swap flywheels because it uses an 8 bolt pattern as opposed to 6. As far as I know, the truck crank is the same as the Mustang spec crank.

Default Crank

The 4.6 engines have a 3.552 inch stroke and the 5.4s have a 4.16 inch stroke. The 5.4 and 4.6 are the same bore size the only difference in displacement is the stroke.

IT TURNS OUT THAT IM GOING TO BE HAVE A RACE SHOP IN PALM DESERT,CA DO MY MOTOR WHEN ITS DONE IT SHOULD BE MAKING 450 TO 500HP AND BE ABLE TO ACCEPT A 200 SHOT OF NOZ THAT IM GOING TO PUT ON IT ASWELL, IM NOT SURE ON THE DETAILS OF THE PROJECT YET BUT I WILL KNOW THIS WEEK AFTER THEY TAKE IT APART, I DO HAVE ANOTHER ? THOUGH, I HAVE A V6 IN THERE RIGHT NOW FOR THE TRANNY SHOULD I KEEP THE V6 TRANNY AND BEEF IT UP OR SHOULD I PUT A V8 IN THERE? ALSO HOW HARD WOULD IT BE TO PUT SWAP A AUTO TO A 5 SPEED?
