Default CAI v/s Factory Setup... looks the same?

I was just looking at my old air silencer, and thinking, is there really that much difference between the factory setup on a 4.6L and a CAI? I mean, the stock silencer extends out into the fenderwell doesn't it? Looks like the same path to me...

And I have a question...

I'm thinking about adding NOS to my stang, being that I can NOT afford a supercharger until maybe Jan or Feb 03. Does anyone have any suggestions for a all-in-one NOS kit that I can install myself in my garage? Also, what happens when the NOS runs out? Where do I go to refill it? A pro shop type place?

I've seen 75HP max be fine on stock engines, I know some people go higher than that, but I would think it would be risky.... As long as you stay at no more than 75 you should be able to keep your pistons in one piece...

As far as the CAI vs. Stock... I think some of the CAI fit into the fender and have an open tip... I know on mine, I can not use the factory box and filter or my engine will suffocate. Once I put on the new MAF/TA/Underdrives, the factory box made the car run like crap.. When it's open it's fine though... I just allow the hood to dump right on top of the K/N...

I've never had spray though, just had friends that have..... they ran 125-300HPshots, but they also had forged everything...

Two ways I know of

Let them modify and serialize there in their shop

--or--

These are the only two "real" ways I know of, otherwise they are replicas... Mine is still a replica, I do not have either serial tag. I have all my specs into Steeda, awaiting to win the monthly contest.............

As far as the charger fitting under a stock hood....

Most of the kits do..... not all, like if you go buy a Weiand 8-71 Blower , then yeah you will have to start cutting holes in your hood..........

Most places like Kenne Belle, ATI, Vortech, Paxton, Eaton all have kits that fit under factory hoods. The best thing to do would be to ask others in here with those particular mods, I do not have one.

Dude, if I could put one of those hi-rise blowers and scoops with the butterfly discs on my engine, I'd be all over it. I think that is saweet lookin!

One of these....

They only work on non-fuel injected carbs right?

I think they make that design in a fuel injected varitey. The prostock and nitro dragsters are fuel injected for the most part, I'm sure there may be some Carb's on some... But for the most part I've seen them highly fuel injected..... I watched a demo of much fuel a normal 24 lb/hr injector does, then how much a NitroCar's injectors do... man you wouldn't believe how much there is, it's like a water hose.......

They go like gallons/foot of that fuel

There was a 4.6 with a 6-71 roots blower sticking out of the hood with a scoop in MM&FF a while back. They had to fabricate a custom manifold and a bunch of other stuff to do it, though.
