Default AOD Gear Ratios?

What are the stock gear ratios in the AOD transmission? It's in a 91 GT. I assume they're somewhere in the 3:1, 2:1, 1:1, .6:1 neighborhood...anyone know exactly what they are? I've just been curious.

Are you serious? That's wimpy as hell! God.... Funny thing is, 2nd gear seems geared just right...but third gear feels too far. And Overdrive...ugh...longest, sloppiest shift I've ever seen...

Yeah it does suck don't it, that's why i got rid of the aod and went to the 5 speed. but i know art carr makes a gear set for the aod that helps some, i think it comes with a 2.8 1st gear and 1.56 2nd gear and the same 3rd and 4th gear as the original gear

Oh wow..I didn't know you can replace tranny gears when you're doing a rebuild.. I hate these stock ratios...I mean a 2.4 first gear is TALL....wayyy tall. Ok, add that to the list. Current tranny fix list for another year or two down the road, is:
Rebuild job
TransGo Shift Kit
Manual Valvebody
Hurst Shifter Assembly
*Art Carr Gears

Thumbs up

hey nixon, i have an old super magazine where art carr does a whole rebuild to an aod. they replace the gears, add a one piece input shaft, install shift kit, cooler, plus put in a new torque convertor. i was going to go this route before i decided to put in a 5 speed, but let me know i can maybe fax you this article if you want it. i would scan it, but i don't have a scanner or an idea of how to scan. take it easy bud

Thanks man... God if I had the money, I'd rebuild it right now. But I'm broke..so...it's getting rebuilt when it's about to blow. Already had to spend a LOT of cash to fix this engine...had a LOT wrong with it...tranny is getting built once I get the $2000 paid off.

I kinda thought that the ratios were 2.4 first, 2.46 second, and then 1/1 and .68/1 third and fourht... My 2 cents...

Do you mean 3.4:1 first? Lol, 2.4:1 first and 2.46:1 second sounds a tad funny to me!

I prolly should proof read my posts, huh... I meant 1.46 for second... I'm pretty sure it's (aod) a little closer, with a higher(numericaly lower) first gear than a C-4 or C-6 which were 2.46, 1.46, 1.0. not sure though... ok. that's my modified two cents... I guess that makes it three?
