Default yesterday's x-pipe installation

right, so i call this muffler shop, and ask how much it would be to replace my stock h-pipe with an offroad x-pipe. he says "i can do a magnaflow x-pipe for 140 bucks."

i'm like "damn ok what time do you close?"

..................driving to the place at like mach 34..............

so i get there and dude cuts the cats off, and puts a little piece of pipe on where the cats were, and welds the stock pipes back on. i'm like "umm is this your version of offroad?"....

he shows me the x-pipe, and it's this little "cross section" piece, not a whole pipe, just the intersection. no wonder it was so cheap

so he ends up removing the H area on my stock pipes, and installs the x-pipe, and proceeds to rig up this god awful looking set up (attaching the X to the flows, etc). the dude can't even get the bends right, and wastes like 3 feet of pipe...

so i'm left with this (in order from the existing cats):

existing cats->stock pipes->welded on pipes where the other cats used to be->more stock pipe->extensions->x-pipe->extensions->flowmasters.

this HAS to be a ripoff?

yeah, that's what i figured.

i also noticed a slight decrease in low-end torque. also, it's not as loud as it used to be, and the higher the RPMs, the quiter it gets (seriously). i liked the sound better when i had the stock H-pipe.

Default Find a good Lawyer!

Dude.....you got screwed....

My suggestion be to find a good lawyer! Cause your car is in worse shape than stock! If I were you I'd demand your money back and go buy a true X-Pipe and install it yourself!

A real x-pipe screams at high RPMs...Demand your money back...that is one ghetto setup.

Thanks,

Default Watch out for BBK!

Don't buy the BBK X-Pipe......I bought the BBK and had to take it back because the pipe didn't fit on Bank 1 Manifold.....

Go with the Bassani X-pipe.........great product.....

Man... did they give you a kiss with that f**kin? -- don't take that personally.. we've all had it done to us before.. I too have had problems with BBK, except mine is the H-Pipe... They had to hammer in the top of my driver side pipe because it kept rattling against the transmission shift lever under the car... really ungly looking now, oh-well...Next time I am under there I am going to have a Bassani H or X put in... Anyways, I heard it mentioned earlier... I would call the BBB about them, if he said a particular manufacturer (Magnaflow), then did that to your exhaust, that is first of all):

1). Bad Business
2). False Advertising
3). Illegal (He removed your cats... sue his *****!)
4). Out right crappy, send the Italian Mafia after him and fuhgetaboutit!!! -hehe

I would try to get my money back, and maybe, they can even get them to pay for a proper piece and install... who knows.... Fight the system!!!! good luck man...

thanks for the advice. i'm taking my car saturday to a reputable muffler shop. he's gonna put it on the lift and check out what they did.

i'll use his comments as grounds for either a refund, or a redo. either way, i'm not going out like a chump, this is my baby they're messing with (and 140 bucks).

thanks again all. wish me luck

Problem solved. I took it down to a REAL muffler shop, and the guy put it on the lift, and almost puked...

He put on a MAC Pro Chamber, and I am SO HAPPY with this. Sounds ungodly mean, more torque, more everything. I'm in love!

Cats are gone for good

From now on, no screwing around with half-wits. Ask around, more than once, and only deal with professionals.

Lesson learned.
