C&L MAF is in!!
I put in my CAI/80mm MAF from C&L today. The company claims 16rwhp on an otherwise stock GT. I think that is quite tough to believe, but I DEFINITELY did feel a noticeable gain!! The car feels like it's breathing a lot easier and revs much more freely. Probably picked up a nice gain over the entire band. Overall, I'm very pleased with it and I would recommend it for other GT's.

I was thinking of getting the C&L meter also. Is it just the MAF or is there anything else included? About how much did yours run?

recently added a c&l to my 98
i also just added a c&l 80 mm unit to my 98 gt,it came with a new conical k&n the meter which u put the stock sensor back in i might add and a plastice heat sheild, i also noticed a postive difference. has anyone here used this in conjunction with a 70 or 75 mm throttle bodie i was thinking of upgrading that too but i am still skeptical of the 6-12 horse power gain claimed by bbk.also one more thing about the c&l.... if u hold it up beside the stock unit and compare you will laugh at the stocker, the stock one looks sick in comparison, and it took me about 10 minutes to install

black281:
The kit comes with a conical K&N filter (much bigger than the one's you buy at the auto stores) a heat shield, and the 80 mm MAF. It took about 10minutes to install, like japslaya said, and I felt quite a noticeable gain. Japslaya: I also have a 70mm Throttle Body that Im gonna put in whenever I get off my lazy butt. I'll let you know if I feel anything from that part. Later. |

Question; if you install bigger injector and 75-80 mm throttle bodie do you have to have your computer chip re-adjusted.
And what if you decide to install a supercharger do you once again have to have the computer calibrated. I know that there are places that will sale you a chip according to the parts you installed but do you have to send the chip back everytime you install something new? |

I just installed the C&L 80mm MAF. What I can say is that I felt a noticeable difference. The car defintely pulls harder from 3000RPM on up. It also makes a cool sucking sound as it draws more air in. I felt that it was a worth while mod.

Hey Rocket99GT
I have heard that if you put bigger injectors in that you have to get your MAF recalibrated, the manufacturer usually charges a nominal fee for this. As for the computer I think it should be fine, unless you already have one custom made for your current configuration, then you might have to get it updated.

C&L's been good to me since 98'...congrats.
Rocket: in other words, the sample tube has to be replaced to match injector size..not a biggie.

I am going to upgrade the MAF on my car along with the injectors, underdrives and timing advance from Steeda. I use the factory intake box, except it has a large hole in the top of it where it's been converted to a ram intake from the hood. This new C&L or the Pro-M, you think i can get them to fit onto the boxes output to the MAF, or would I have to resize the hole? I can prob get something to make the adjustment, I have a large selection of tools here at the house, and I know a lot of people that do custom fabrication. I would just rather not have to call on them to do it. I want to do it myself. Thanks for any input.!!!
