Default Low oil light. How many quarts of oil for a 1996 Cobra?

I don't have any of the manuals or the Chiltons for the car. We havIs te 5 1/2 quarts in it and it's still showing a low oil light. Is there a problem or are we under the correct capacity?? Thanks.

what does the dipstick say? The car has one right?

I was under the impression that it was an oil PRESSURE light, not an oil LEVEL light. I may be wrong here, but I'd check with real tools before the car leaves your garage again.

FWIW, I think its the same 6 quart capacity as the SOHC.

The dipstick is showing proper level, but I thought there may be a sensor problem or something else. I never thought the light might be a low pressure light. I'll have to check the manual. It's my sister in law's car so that's why I don't have all the manuals in front of me. It all happened last night after I changed the oil.

You might try resetting the computer and see if that helps. It might not, but if it does, it would be a simple fix.
