hi everyone
hi, i just got a 99 mustang GT.
it is freaking awsome, i founf this site on yahoo, id love to be a member. i have a question also, why does it say in all the car mags, that the 99 cobra and the GT both do a 0-60 in 5.4 sec. what is the dif. if they are the same? |

I believe the '99 Cobra's may be able to get close to that. Maybe 5.6sec. stock, after the "fix". I think the '99 GT's are rated at 5.9sec. Those ratings in the back of magazines aren't the most reliable. In the 1/4 mile, I think the Cobra is capable of 13.9, while the GT can do 14.1 sec.

The difference in horsepower between the two isn't significant enough to make a difference in 0-60 and also traction is an issue (more hp = less traction off the start). The quarter mile, though, is where the horsepower shows up (especially MPH if there is no traction).

Traction is a very real reason why the 99 Cobra's 0-60mph times are so close to the 99 GTs.
