Post Rear Seat Removal???

Ack need help before this drives me nuts.

How in the world does the rear seat bottom come out of these mustangs? I have had many other cars and never had a problem removing seats but this is just crazy.

I'm trying to shed 200 pound out of car for Friday night.

I'm assuming you mean the bottom cushion. There are two push in tabs located just under the front lip of the cushion approximately 8 inches in from eash side. If you lift up on the cushion and feel for them you find them. Then get a screw driver and push in the center piece and that releases each side. Once you push in both sides just pull it out.

The other half of the rear seat should be pretty obvious, I think it's 4-6 bolts.

Although I'm not Ares I will say that mine were about 38lbs total. Bottom cushion 12lbs and the backing piece 26lbs. Mine where leather, cloth may be a little lighter.

Thanks, Mustang92. Mine are leather too. Don't know if it's worth it to remove em right now, but I'm sure if you're cutting weight all over the place, it helps. Thanks.

Yah mine weighed in about 35-38 pounds total.

I was able to shed roughly 117lbs Which was very noticable, car seemed just a litle more responsive.

Ares, can you post what you did to shed so much weight? Did you install a tubular k-member, a-arms, etc? That's a good diet!

The 117lbs came out of the interior. The passenger front seat, rear seat bottom and back, foam cushion above rear seat back, floor mat on passenger side, spare tire/jack, trunk mat.

I'm not sure what the front sway bar is since I only removed it at track, so its not counted in the 117lbs

Thanks for the help, Ares. Sorry to hit you with another question, but do you know how much the front two seats each weigh? My seat is power and leather, the passenger seat is leather, no power. Thanks again!

If I remember right the front driver side seat is 68lbs and the passenger side 45lbs. Front sway bar is about 17lbs if I remember right, I have this all written down somewhere just need to find it.
