03 cobra shifter is #@$%!!
The shifter in the 2003 cobra is crap im going to put a personal call into Ford about it to.
This thing has 4 inch throws and half the time it takes a sledge hammer to change gears. This is BullS$%@ when you pay 35,000 for a car. Also i got the car home and my wife and i inspected it again and we found at least 5 spots on the car that have major paint blemishes.Needless to say i am just a little bit pissed off. However i am pretty pleased with the performance of the engine and the independent rear suspension. |

Why would i take it back and get something as slow as a camaro or a transam?
Hell i could miss third gear and still stomp both of those cars a new *******. I suggest if your a GM person you find a new place to post messages. The simple fact is FORD is once again king and you girls cant take it.GM makes a sorry excuse of a vehicle, they put a 5.7 litre engine in the POS which is 70 cubic inches larger than mine yet they still cant get enough horsepower to beat my cobra. The Z28 i raced had an H pipe and catback system as well as a shortthrow shifter and a chip according to the guy driving it and i literally destroyed him. The GM cars are just boats they need big cubes just to make the fuckers move.Get a car consistent with the ******* century your living in.Sell your GM to the bone yard so they can melt it down and make some parts for rice burners. |

I happen to like ANY car that is fast, regardless of make. GM has 70 cubes but you have a blower and 4 valves per cylinder. While I'd LOVE to have a 03 Cobra and they haul *** for a stock car.....they aren't all that and a bag of chips. There are a lot of LS-1's and 5 liters out there that can take one. no offense, just my opinion. Actully you don't have to go anywhere if you are a GM owner. As long as you don't flame your welcome here. We have several GM owners and even some import owners(although I haven't seen Inferno in a while)

I'm pretty sure the comment about the 03 Cobra being a "POS" was a joke. I'd be confident enough to say that every member on the board would LOVE to have a 2003 Cobra.

Man that was sarcasm! I was reacting to you putting down your 03 because of its shifter; I wish I had that problem, I'd know how to fix it, and if you want perfect paint buy a Ferrari.

Like they said...I'd like to have your problem...but
That's why STEEDA and PRO 5.0 are making a profit... Try one, you will love the difference an aftermarket shifter makes. I love my Tri-AX so much, I pull the boot off just to look at it every once in a while.

HAHAH,i cant imagine wanting to look at it that bad.
I do like to drool on my eaton blower tho. Yes i know all about the steeda and pro 5.0 shifters i had the pro5.0 in the GT i traded off on this cobra. However the local speedshop doesnt list a pro 5.0 shifter for the 2003 Cobra. Im assuming its the same shifter that the camaro six speeds use however thats making a large assumption when your talking about a 35,000 dollar car and voiding your warranty. So im kinda stuck with the POS until someone releases some information on what works and what doesnt. I know steeda supposedly has the triax for the 2003 but they also want over 200.00 for theirs. So i may just go that route and order one from them over the internet on payday. My next concern is that the speedshop informed me that the camaro guys running the pro 50 shifter and the six speed get an ungodly rattle and vibration when the transmission i sin 3rd gear. Anyone heard anything about that and what possible cures exist? |

Well, I can say from experience that the T-56 does make a little noise when you install a shifter. I had a Hurst shifter in my 93 Formula and it made a little bit of noise that was easily remedied with the volume knob on my stereo. =) I currently have a B&M Ripper (I know, I know, but it was free) and it makes a little bit of noise in my '01 GT as well, but after 9 years of aftermarket shifters, I'm used to it. Aftermarket shifters don't have the rubber isolators that factory shifters have, so it transmits some tranny noise through the handle...that's normal.
FYI, it won't void your warranty unless the dealer is really, really bad... |

Yesterday test driving various GT's I did notice the shifter has some long weird throws. My old truck had a shorter shift.
Now my first love is a Chevy and always will be, but I am looking into a stang. Not because they are faster, the stock GT verse the stock z 28 is a huge difference in favor of the Z. Your corbra should race a SS, but that is not the subject. I am getting a stang for price reasons nad because it is easier for the wife to drive. |
