What GEARS?????
I'm still working on my '96 and can't seem to get a staight anwer about my gear selection. I like cruisin' and running street races but i drive alot of highway and will be bringing it to the track this spring but i have't changed my gears yet (ya i know , it's pretty much your first mod but i'm building for the future) my problem is i am lookin at buying a t56 from sean hyland motorsport and can't decide on the what gears to use( the t45 is just not gonna handle it) or would anyone recommend something else like a tko or something?any suggestions would help. tanx.

Have you asked Sean Hyland motorsports what gears they recommend with that tranny and your engine combo? I would love to have the T56 and some 4.56 gears myself...

I don't think 4.56s would be overkill for me if I had a 6-speed, but I don't run at the strip all the time, either.

The GT doesn't rev high enough to take advantage of the 4.56s and trans you use means nothing other than an overdrive. Your first and second gear will go by quick and you will run out of gear in the quarter mile but more power to you.

Mustang92: I can definitely see the point in what you are saying, but my car is built for a different purpose than yours.
My thinking is more along the lines of hauling *** on very windy backroads with short straightaways around where I live. I want more gears and I want them very close ratio to keep me in the powerband exiting corners. Generally I don't even get past 100mph in the short straights between the corners. I've only taken it to the strip once, so I'm not too concerned about running out of gears in the 1/4.

100MPH would be the top of 4th at 6250 RPM and leaves you no room to grow. If you think that is perfect then like I said more power to you.

BLUE00GT
I just got an e-mail back from John at SHM and he would suggest 4.10 gears for best over all performance.
Gears on the t56 are: 1st...2.97 2nd...2.07 3rd...1.43 4th...1.00 5th...0.80 6th...0.62 Does anyone know the correct gearing for a t45. Also I read an article in a popular mag. when they tested an S2 which was equiped with a Paxton NOVI 1000 and they said it was hitting the rev limiter at the end of the 1/4 mi. ....is that in 6th or 5th or what.....???
