2001 GT Convertible - just got my new ride!
Bought it last night (peyton cramer ford on PCH if anyone is familiar with the area) - Performance Red, Charcoal top, light grey interior - has 62 miles on it right now! I traded my 97 GT Conv for it - but I do miss that car a little I want to become active in meeting up with those from the SoCal area. I have no idea where to start with Mods, and I want to beef up the horsepower on this thing. Where could I begin looking for information on performance Mods that I can look into? Thanks, and look forward to learning from you guys, and hopefully meeting some of you as well. kondor ------------------ ------------------------- 2001 GT Convertible Stock Out-Of-The_Box |

Call Vortech and give them $7,000 and you'll get an S-trim with aftercooler kit installed. Over 400 hp. Easy 12 second car with traction. Drive it across country. Have fun! If you are not ready to spend that much money, buy some clear taillight lenses, "power by ford" stickers, a fire extinguisher to mount to your windshield pillar and big 5" exhaust tips. Seems like all the Honda owners around here do this and their cars are superfly fast! Enjoy your new beast!

That is hilarious, I should try that. I have a couple stickers from Summit when I got my MAF, I think I have about 8 stickers, how many HP is that worth? ------------------ 1995 Mustang GT |

Welcome to the board, Kondor!
I really like the new stlye of Stang's. Sounds like a sharp combo that you got. Happy motoring. As for modding your new GT, you may want to visit the Modular Madness section of this site. Some ideas might include, steeda timing adjuster, gears (3.73's or so), new shifter for the T45, a set of pulleys, and maybe even a free-flowing exhaust. Hey, thanks for the information Eric! Not too sure about the previous two posts - I think they are giving me the 'rookie' treatment, but that's ok. I'll definitely check out that section though. Quote:

Kondor, I know what you mean. I bought my 2001 Mineral Grey /black top Convertible about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I just hit 1,000 miles so now I can hammer it! I have already put in the white face gauges, it just looked to plain all black on the inside. Next mod will either be 3:73's or 4:10's and a shifter.

Snake
Wow, nice color combo. I thought about the silver and black as well, but I've seen too many of them here in SoCal So you put the white-face gauges on huh? Do you like them? Were they easy to install? I almost got them for my 97, but passed on the opportunity. I am already thinking of getting them for the 01 though. Best of luck with your 01 as well! Quote:

Kondor: I didn't mean to sound harsh. I was just in a funny mood. On my way home from work on my lunch break, I must have seen about 10 ricers and I was just laughing at them and the rediculous things they add to their "performance vehicles" !!! Welcome to the board. I definitely was serious though about the stickers! (Ha Ha)

Oops - screwed up that last post...
LfiveohX - I took it as a joke - no worries! And I know what you mean by the snap-on-tools modifications that the ricers add to their 'performance machines'... Hmmm, 'powered by ford' stickers everywhere - would look nice, especially on the side scoops |

The first five things I would do If I was in your postition are:
1. K&N air filter 2. 3.73 Gears 3. Bassani X-pipe 4. Underdrive Pulleys 5. Lowering springs, cause the car looks like a 4x4 stock! ------------------ Black 2000 GT Auto Bassani X-pipe, Magnaflow Mufflers, Steeda Pulleys, K&N Filter. Red 1994 Mustang Cobra #4343 Pulleys, Shorty Headers, Flowmaster 2 chambers, K&N, short throw shifter. |

Kondor, I had to have either the Mineral Grey or the Yellow one. I was a real pain to get the light switch off. I know it suppose to just pull off with a flat tip screwdriver, but I guess on the 2001's it don't come off. I had to disconnect the battery, pull the bezel out and there are two screws holding the light switch body to the dash. Take them off and you can pull the switch out far enough to push in the shaft release button on the side.
I really love the look in the day, at they look good at night too. Stoplightwarrior, I was thinking the same, except I will go with 4:10's and I'm not sure about underdrive pulleys. I heard that some cars have problems with them. ------------------ 95 Cobra (Sold) 378 RWHP 401 RWTQ 01 GT Conv. |
