Default Electric water pumps

I have been doing some reading on electric water pumps for the 4.6.
It would seem to me that if a set of pulleys will free up some HP, then an electric pump would also do the same.
Is this a worth while mod?
also, what is the lifespan of the cooling system hoses?
My car is a 2000 GT, and i am pretty sure that all the hoses are still origional...I know todays technology is better, but everything still has a lifespan.
Thanks for any input
