Default Anyone think a 160 thermostat is good or bad?

I have a 180 stat but I still see the gauge go into the m on the normal temp gauge and I just like a cooler engine for longer hose life and it makes sense colder is better so does anyone have a 160 stat? Its like 10 bucks for a mr. gasket one and easy to install I'm just worry like it might burn out the fan cause its gonna kick on the fan eariler and longer so anyone know the pros and cons?

I think you're headed for trouble with the computer if you go any lower than a 180 deg thermostat. The car won't warm up properly and the computer will spend too much time in open loop, wasting fuel and hurting performance.

If you want to keep your car running cooler, make sure you flush your cooling system, replace it with fresh coolant, a mix of 30% coolant and 70% distilled water. Also add some water wetter. Make sure the fins in your rad aren't all buggered up too.

That ought to work. Just be careful not to damage any of the tubes in the rad!
