96 gt intake break???
So about a few months ago i picked up a 96 gt 80,000 miles five speed as a daily driver, its completley stock...
it all goes bad when im driving and i start to see a smoke in the rear view mirror. i stop and its pouring from under my hood, i pull over and the valley between the heads is filled with coolant.... take it to the shop and i find out that the intake is cracked on the front coolant runner. so i decide to get it fixed....850 bucks.... after getting my car back i do a recall check. sure enough ford says that they will fix the problem only if it does in fact break....within 7 years... this sucks because the car is now 8 yrs old. do any of you guys think that i could get ford to reimburse me any amount of money??? or do any of you guys have the same story as i do? any info would be greatly apriciated..

Definately try to see if Ford will cover at least part of it. The worst thing that'll happen is they won't. It has happened to many, many Mustang/T-bird/Cougar owners.
Its a shame you weren't around the forums before, because you could have replaced it with a PI intake with complete swap/adapter kit from Livernois for about $650. You would have got an aluminum crossover that won't break again, and picked up 10-15hp along the way.

Well the car was here at school with me, and i wouldnt have had the time to wait for the part to be shipped, and the new ford intake has the alum. coolant runner.
i really didnt want to put aftermarket products on this car because im planning on keeping this bone stock..... im currently bugeting for a 347stroker for my 85 also the part itself from ford only cost me 550. when all said and done all together cost me 850. i usually do the work myself but im not at home where my tools and stuff are. so i took it to the shop i use to work at.
