Post B&M Ripper vs. Kirban : Please tell me!

Hi,
I didn't get any response to my other post regarding the same issue. Here's the dilly-o:

I can pay $170-$180CDN ($108-$113US) for a used B&M Ripper, or $140 for a used Kirban Kwik Shifter. Both delivered to my door.

The Ripper was used about 20K miles and not driven hard; the Kirban was used on a car that was run regularily at the track.

I've heard the Kirban is a knockoff of the Tri-ax (or vice-versa)...

Bye!

I've never really heard much about the kwik shifter, but the ripper is a good shifter.

Hi,
Living in Canada, these shifter (Pro 5.0, Ripper and Tri-ax) will run anywhere betwen $300-$350 + tax (so roughly $345-$400), which is nuts.

Anywho, i went ahead and told the dude i'd take his Kirban for $125CDN (about $140 to my door).

From what I was told, the shifter is 2yrs old and has 15KMs on it (9400miles) and was well maintained and not used hard.

Oh well, anything other then stock is good for me at this moment.

Bye!

LOL! I think Clint hit the track 3-4 times at most with his car with the T5.

You'll love the feel of a short throw shifter, any short throw shifter. I used tro love my old style Hurst competition Plus and it was just about the worst out there. I ran a Hurst Billet Plus in my Tremec and loved it, world above the Comp Plus.

Hi,
Hey, what's up Tim...heh, I just assumed that he musta run it hard seeing how you talked about him being at Cayuga. Well, it seems I'm gonna get the shifter from him after all. I'll try to see if I can get the shifter before Sat. Oct. 13. I might decide to go to the track then.

Thanks for hookin me up btw...

Bye!

No problem, I like to help out friends. It looks like you are getting a decent deal (less than 1/2 price) and he get's it out of his basement. Works out good for the both of you. Just wait until you nail those 2-3 shifts and they slide in like butter. It's a different feel compared to pulling on that long rubbery stocker.

Good luck at the track.
