Post stock gears

Could someone help me and tell me how I can find out what gear ratio a stock 97 gt has. The code on the driverside door is EZ under gears? Also I have an automatic, would you recomend 373 or 410s and were can I get them?

Cool

I would recommend 4.10s for your car. Also I don't know what gears are in your car but you can also crawl under the rear of your car and look at the differential. There's a metal tag on it that'll tell you what's in it. I don't remember if it's the top or bottom line of the tag but it'll say something like 2L73, or 3L08, or 3L27. It could also be like 2 73, or 3 08, or 3 27. The numbers are the gear ratio like 2.73, 3.08, 3.27. The L is the stock posi-trac. If it doesn't have the L then you don't have posi. It'll be one of those three. No steeper than the 3.27s.

Do not quote me but I think it is 2.73. V-6 and Gt's have 2.73 and cobra have 3.27 stock. I am pretty sure. As far as what new grears. If you DO NOT plan on driving it around town put 4.10. Supercharged put 3.55's and if you natrual put 3.73's. That is what I have read and been told. For best all around proformance. Hope it helps.
