Default How to go Vert, T-top, or Sunroof???

Need some ideas on how to convert a 1998 GT Coupe into a convertible, T-Top, or SunRoof. I would like the convertible option. AND!!!, I do not want to hear "Buy a new car", that is not an option, I have too much money in this car and will not be selling it just to get the convertible option. I know it can be done, and I know someone out there has done it before. I just need a place to go, or a site to look at for information on this. If not, then T-Top would be the next choice I want to go to. I haven't seen any T-Top custome stangs in my body style, and would like to be one of the few with it. I would just like information, not flames please...

Somewhere in 13.8 13.9 .. I haven't been out in a while, so I don't know what I can run as I sit right now.

The sunroof is easy enough. You can install it, or have a professional install it for a few hundred. If you wanted a power moonroof, it'll be a little harder due to the small roof. I think they run between $800-$1200.

I know there used to be a company that offered T-Top conversions for the Fox body cars, but I would have to guess it would be another PITA to do on a SN95 because of the rounded roof.

Save your money and forget the Vert. The entire top of the car has to be cut off, including cutting through the 1/4 panels. The SN95 cars were designed to be convertables from the get-go, but that doesn't mean it would be easy to convert it, or safe from a structural standpoint. You're talking $1000s in modification for the vert.

for about $500 bucks or so you can have a nice moon roof installed, but go to a really good custom shop to have it done. If they mess it up your car will never be the same. Have never seen a T-Top for the new body style, not that they don't exist, but you would need alot of custom($$$$$$) work done to make it work and it needs to be done by an expert. Sometimes it calls for replacing the headliner and painting the roof, NOT CHEAP, but it would look real cooool with a T-Top!!

Ditto here. Never seen T-tops on an SN-95 'Stang. I don't think this would be possible though becuase of the roof design. It would be pretty cool though. As for the convertible top, save your coins for perfomance mods! But then again I'am biased because I HATE convertibles.

Use a chain saw. If you want to **** up a great looking car like yours, you may as well do it right.

I didn't say it was "impossible" to put T tops onto a SN95. The F body are a completely different story because they have custom designed T-tops from the factory.

To make an aftermarket T-top set fit an SN95, it would have to be built for the curve in the roof, or the roof would have to be modified. Either case would prove very expensive and difficult unless there is already a kit built for that purpose.

You'll also lose structural integrity from cutting 1/2 the roof away. I've looked up in my 2002, and I don't see much room for a T-top.
