Default Newbie 1/4 mile question

Here it goes. I'm looking at a '02 GT 5 speed coupe. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of the cost involved with getting into the 12's? Again, I nothing about Stangs and the search feature wasn't too helpful.

4.10's and a blower will get you there in a hurry. Figure it will cost about $4k, though.

Eh, maybe a little more, atleast around here. Gears cost me almost $700. A good, dependable blower and a tune will cost your between $4-5K.

Yeah..I agree with Titan, unless you bargain shop. $300-$500 gears and $4000-$5000 on a blower.

Titan...I thought you were an aero major????????

A centrifugal blower can get an '02 GT into the 11s with gears and stickies. A roots blower would be in the 12s.
If you wanted to do it naturally aspirated you would need all the bolt-ons, gears, slicks, and some drag suspension for serious 60-ft times.

Thanks for the replies, the gt I'm looking at is only 24k so I wouldn't have a problem throwing a 6k charger on right away. I want to stay away from nitrous but forced induction, that's a beautiful thing. One more question while I got your attention. What bar can the s/c safely push through a 4.6 with stock interals. Would bigger fuel injectors be needed?

I was, I changed it b/c I want to co-op this summer (work program). The Aero job market is DEAD, especially after 9/11. I'm thinking about Industrial, it's much more broad.

Most of the standard base model supercharger kits are designed to be safe for the stock shortblock. They tend to be 6-8 psi (about 0.5 bar) for the new GT's. Some go a little higher with intercooling.
