Tri-ax and reverse
I'm basically sold on the Steeda shifter for the 97, I just have one question. I cannot get the freaking car into reverse without it taking 3 or 4 tries. Will the tri-ax make it easier to find reverse, or does my trans rebuild just suck? I don't want to have the car torn down again so obviosly the answer I would like is, 'put in the tri-ax and bang away, even reverse.'
Let me know and I'll order it this week.

my buddies 96 cobra does the same thing..and he had the stock shifter. It would take him at least 5 tries to get it in reverse. Sometimes if he would move the car forward a tad and then put it in reverse it would go. Your tranny rebuild may be bad but i highly doubt it. I'd be willing to bet that the new shifter solves your problem.

Just go 1st 2nd then reverse should stop hanging up on you. Get the tri ax, you will be happy.

I have an idea, forget the tri ax, just make sure that you park on a slop when ever you park. Then you just let off the brake and let gravity take its toll. Who needs reverse any way, just extra weight.

The Tri-Ax won't really do anything for the reverse problem, and I really don't think there is anything wrong with your transmition. My car and everyone else that I know with a 94-2002 mustang has problems getting it into reverse. What really does work for me (and everyone else I know) is shifting into third and then going right into reverse (with the clutch in the whole time obviously). The tri-ax is definitely worth it though, whether it solves the problem or not, because its really badass when you slam it down into second and then it springs right back to the middle when hitting 3rd.

it is more than likely the syncros and the shift forks they all do it from the t5 to the t45 just deal with it or you can try driving forward a bit then try reverse this works sometimes

I was asking more if the idea that I can bang any gear and not sweat breaking a fork holds true for reverse too. Sounds like it will. That I can deal with.

Get the Tri-ax!
I love mine, never worry about missing a shift anymore, even when I let other's drive the car. Never had the reverse problem though.
