Default Go past redline?????

Nothing unusual happened,i just pressed the clutch and as i was about to shift to second i missed it by a hair, and as i released the clutch and stepped on the gas,the rpm meter jumped to about 6700 rpm,i usually hit redline at about 6100 when i shifted too late, but never past that. The car is equipped with a diablo chip but i know the RPM limiter is still there. How is that possible?

When the chip was burned, are you sure that they didn't raise or remove your rev limiter? My hypertech programmer lets me change my rev limits.Might be something to look into.

The rev limiter is pulling spark or fuel and can't stop the engines rotating mass in time. If you do a 2 to 1 shift or 3 to 2 shift the rev limiter can't catch the motor in time and it will rev higher than the limit. Same thing happens if you dead stomp on the gas in neutral it will fly past red line before it catches it regardless where the limiter is.
