Post Slow to idle? Anyone else? Why?

All of my buddies are pretty much chevy guys, one has a 84 T-bird w/460 bb, but he is the only other Ford guy. Anyway, when the rev up their engine, in nuetral or park, they idle down almost as fast as they rev up. When I do or any 4.6 for that matter, do this, it revs up fast, but idles down super slow. What causes this, and is it all 4.6's or just a few? Does Ford have a reason behind it or just to make us sound stupid?
