Speedo Calibration
I have a 98 Cobra. I just got a set of Motorsport 4:10 rear gears. A friend told me I need to have some kind of electric calibrator. Where do I get this and how much is it going to set me back? I need help.

Sean Hyland Motorsport sells an speedometer compensator for around $130.

You need an Electronic Ration Adapter, you need it to correct your speedo the ERA will run you from about $130-150 depending on which brand you go with, anyway check out these sites: www.abbott-tach.com

The electronic speedo compensator is for the 99-up stangs. The 96-98 use a mechanical speedo compensator. All you need for you Cobra is a 23 tooth speedometer gear that'll run you about $15. Or you can get the mechanical speedometer compensator. Sean Hyland sells them for around $130 and Dallas Mustangs has them for about $90. Pick up a Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords magazine and look thru the ads in it to find you a speedometer gear.

As far as I know, 96GTS is right...
You shouldn't need an Abbott ERA, you should be able to find a speedo gear. Try Dallas Mustang... ------------------ "The Yellowjacket" 1998 Mustang GT 13.97@103 "Hey, you weren't supposed to be that fast!"- Turbo Eclipse Driver |
