Steeda Tri-ax HELP

I know some of you guys have done this yourself....

How did you get the stock shifter off of the tranny? I pulled on that bad boy last night till my hands bled and I couldn't get it off. I don't want to damage anything so I stopped. :(

I called Steeda and they told me to bang on the base of it with a block of wood or on the base of the handle with my fist and it should just pop off.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Put it in thrid gear, then knock the piss out of it with your hand or something. Comes right off. Or you can do what I've always done, grab the thing and jerk it over to one side. Either way, really easy, while still being kinda hard. The gasket maker they use from the factory is pretty stout. Have fun, and don't hurt yourself too bad. :D

Ok when you say knock the piss out of it, what are you hitting? The base or the handle? I tried pulling the handle, which I figure now is wrong..... THat is why I stopped. Didn't want to screw up my tranny.

Ok I got it off and was able to put in the Tri Ax. But when I tightened all the bolts up, I couldn't shift into gear. Anyone have any thoughts?

So far I am completely let down.

Turns out Mustangtuning sent the wrong shifter... Ugh!

I'll tell you what though, both Steeda.com and MustangTuning both have amazing customer service.

Be aware that you will have to adjust the shift stops...or you will have some bad grindage. Outside of that...it's really easy to work with. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Don't let it get to ya Nar....

Welcome to the world of working on your car yourself.

Be prepared for cuts, scrapes, bruises, and lots of four letter words.

Once you get the right shifter and properly adjust the stops, I promise that you'll love the upgrade over the stock shifter...
