Stereo Question

Stereo Question

Hey Guys & Gals,

I’ve searched the forum but can’t find any related info.

I have a weird issue with my 1996 GT factory Mach460 stereo BUTTON.
The VOLUME DOWN BUTTON does not work anymore. The up still works.

Can't afford to upgrade so I hope there is a fix. Does the button even come off?
I was thinking about using canned air (is it too strong for the electronics?)

Re: Stereo Question

You can try using canned air, but most likely it's toast.

I would suggest looking on ebay for the same unit and replacing it.

I sold my old one last year, and I think it went for like... 60 bucks or so...

Re: Stereo Question

Did they even come without the tape deck (i don't use it) with the separate CD player (i know some other fords had a radio cd as 1 unit)

Re: Stereo Question

I'm pretty sure all Mach 460s came with the cassette tape in the unit.

Re: Stereo Question

Hey Everybody,

Just wanted to give you an update. I took the face plate off, cleaned it up using canned air and made sure everything was “pressed in” properly. Put everything together and its good. Too bad the Florida sun whooped my butt (no garage) when I worked on it but its all good.

Thanks for everybodys suggestions.
