I was wandering what the real difrences in the positive displacment (roots or kenny bell) super chargers and the other kind (like the paxton or vortec) are. From what I have seen the roots or kenny bells seem to be the better deal because they are self intercooled and you save mony by not neading to get a better intake manifold. Still I see most stangs runing thoughs doughnut like ones. Why?

The superchargers you are refering to are the Centrifugal supercharger, and according to my understanding a Roots blower flows alot of air at a slower speed while centrifugal supercharger flows less air but at greater speeds causing more boost so it is as effiecent as a roots but just works differently, i don't know alot about the Kenne Bell supercharger but i know i wouldn't want to a roots style blower like a 8-71 Disel or something sticking up through the hood of my newer mustang (i have one on my Roadrunner)

The roots style that I have seen don't stick out of the hood. Most seem to fit farly nicely.

what kinda roots superchargers have you seen, i know the kenne bell fits under the hood and i think all the twin screw's do, what im talking about is the old chevy disel blowers, umm heres a good example, the top of the motor on the charger in Fast and Furious, that was a blower, they easily stick out if the hood is anywhere close to the engine

Yea I know what you mean. Thoughs typs are the only ones i have been around. I just dont have much experince with the newer stuff. The big roots are about all i know thats why I asked about these other blowers.

P.S. that movie neaded more cars like that charger, and less crap from japan.
