Tempted by the Gassy Side...
The original plan for my car was to sort out the chassis and suspension then add a blower. But I didn't realize how much sorting the chassis and suspension actually needed until I started.
Now as I sit here and think about it, how much different would a good NOS (remote bottle opener, nice looking but inconspicuous controls, ect) setup be then a blower? I don't race all that often, so a bottle would last me a pretty long time. For the same reason, it would save quite a bit of wear and tear on the engine. The only "disadvantage" I can think of, is just a vague dislike for nitrous. Taking the easy way out. I don't know. What do you guys think? Would I be a lesser man in your eyes with the juice? ------------------ AIM: Some97Snake |

When you go to the track and see two 9 second cars run do you have less respect for the one that built it for less? No, you respect them for being faster than me or you...for now!

I gotta Agree with king snake. Nitrous has a strange aura about it, like its dirty HP or something in my mind But whatever floats your boat.

Bull **** . Why do people keep giving it a bad rap? They're mad cuz they get beat my someone with NOS that didn't spend much money, so they spread rumors about it blower motors etc.
Get the NOS, as you said you dont race that much, and its there at the flick of a switch. Much cheaper than a blower setup, and you can always jet it for more hp. Power is power, regardless of where it comes from. So sue me if I'd rather spend $600 for nitrous and use the extra $3400 I saved, by not buying a blower, to buy a second car. The excuse "But it's always there when you need it" sucks too. Because by the same motto, it's always there when you don't need it too. Just another part to worry about. How often do you "need" a blower anyway? For the avid street racer or track runner, NOS is just fine in my opinion, and more discreet too.

Oh make sure you have enough fuel for motor. Hate to hear ya melted a psiton due to a lean condition. Other then that I'd rather spend $500 on a nitrous setup that gives me 150-300 horse or even more then $2500-4200 on a supercharger. Both have good and bad points, it just a matter of proper tuning to make them safe on motor.

You need fuel for a blower setup too or you'd lean out the motor.

With the juice I would have a pretty unusual car... Griggs road racing suspension w/ NOS. Don't see that very often. It would be interesting.
I'll see. I'm not doing anything more then installing what I all (TA dif cover, Griggs TA, and PHR) ready have in the next six months. Thanks for the replies. |

I'll never forget the kid last summer who bolted a blower to his black notch..
"It's like running a constant 200HP shot of NOS.." he said. When you weigh $600 v. $2,600, NOS seems like a good bet for the weekend worrior. Plus when you clear the lines it sounds cool. "Pssh! Pssh!" |

97snakedriver, I know of one or two guys with road racing setups and nitrous. They road race naturally aspirated, then throw a bottle in it for Friday nights. Not too many of the road racing crowd here uses blowers or turbos.
