![]() The C-6 has been around a long time. It's a tough old bird. I have one in my '94 van.

![]() If there anything wrong with the C6, its too robust. If you have a serious car by all means, use the C6. I figure tho that a C4 should run about 2 thenths faster in the 1/4. Less mass outside and inside. I run a C4 in my Comet. It lasts a full season, about 50 passes, then I pull it apart for new clutches and stuff.

![]() I have raced c-4's, c-6's and FMX 3 speed autos. I think a C-6 will slow you down, the reason to use a c-6 is its torque capacity. It is the only stock tranny around that will take a 428 SCJ into the 10's all season long and laugh back at you. The c-4 is a great unit, and properly built will handle 500+ horsepower.
I am researching the AOD's and AODE's now. With just a few mods they can handle over 500 HP. Lenco has an awesome series of units, one is a street version with a lock up 4'th overdrive. You can run 4.30 gears and in overdrive the car will think it has 2.70's behind a C-4? This is having your cake and eating it too. Just think it all through. An AOD with a solid shaft (will not do a lockup overdrive, but will handle 700 hp all day long), with the wide-ratio gear set, you could run 3.90 gears to 4.30 gears and by a terror on the street and strip. Then jump on the freeway and cruise like an eagle. With my engine, this combo would turn 12.3 Quarters with a 4.30 rear end, and be spinning at 3,100 RPM at 85 mph on the freeway. This just sounds like TOO MUCH FUN. If you do the AOD, do not use a unit that runs the stock gear pattern. Stock, the AOD runs 1st and 2nd gears through a non locked route, and 3rd and 4th run locked. This will just kill you racing on the street or on the track. Go with a fully manual valve body or a lenco valve body that redirects third gear through a non-lock route. Most of the good tranny shops can get you a used AOD and rebuild it for your application. Just tell them what you do or do not want. Go for a 2800-3000 stall converter and make sure you run a big bad tranny cooler. Now go beat up on some Chevy's for me.
