Tire Size
What is the widest tire that can be mounted on the stock Cobra 17" X 8" wheels? When the time comes, I want to add some more traction in the rear so I can make better use of first gear. Right now I cannot floor it in second gear at all without spinning the tires. Do you guys think 275/45ZR17s will fit? Or can I go wider? Also anyone running Nittos and if so how much $$$? I read an article about the Cooper Cobra tires and they also sound good and reasonably priced also.

Ahhhh, the infamous tire size question. Well, the usual response is 275's on the back, 255's front. Any larger on the front will rub on our body style, and I'd be willing to say that you COULD get away with 315's on only a 10.5" rim, not your 9"ers. I'm sure you'll get more replies, but they are my suggestion.

The max suggested size on an 8 inch wheel is 255. However Nittos DRs tend to run a little small, so you can fit a 275/40s on the rear w/o problem.
But you can fit 275s on the front w/o rubbing. I run 275/40s on Cobra Rs on the front. |
