Picked up a new toy!!
Well, I just bought a 65 Falcon with a straight axle front-end. It has a 11.5CR 289 with 289 heads, a solid lifter cam and an edelbrock cross-ram manifold with two 600 holleys on it. It has a factory 4spd with a 9inch rearend housing 5:18 gears. This thing looks mean. I'm going to try and get you guys some pics of it. Any of you into nostalgia racing? Every thing is original. The distributor has a rotor with two ends on it because it fires on two coils. Even the battery is 30 years old. The fire extinguisher inside has a date of 1971 on it and the price tag is there at a solid $1.99!! It has old Lions Drag strip stickers in the trunk. It's really cool.

You suck.
We live in the same town, and you score. You really suck. BTW, I'll have my digital camera with me at the track tomorrow. If you get there by 4:00, I can take some pictures of it for you (if you can drive it there!). I need to see this beast. Get ahold of me if you can't make it tomorrow. Awesome find man. Let me know when you get some pics of it. I gotta see it! I had a 65 Comet with a 289 in it - all original. I bought it from the little old lady you always hear about for $500. It was a beautiful car. I wish I still had it
Anyway, have fun with your new toy. |

It's the typical little ol' lady next door story. Apparently, the car was built between 65 and 71'. They used to race it around here at Camarillo airport and lions drag strip. Then they closed those down, and the guy popped out a baby. To make a long story short, family came first and racing came last. The guy passes away leaving his wife and son behind along with 30 years of storage. The guy I buy it from sees it and picks it up. It turns out to be a little too radical for him, so I step in and take it off his hands. Cool story huh? The beauty is I'm going to leave everything original, so it'll be a good piece of drag racing history. The 30 year old slicks are brand new!! I'm going to get pics soon. Hopefully before this thread is closed.
BTW Chris, I can't drive it yet without the engine put together. If you want to come over we can push it to ventura raceway!! |
