Post Tires

I own a 96 mustang cobra, and the time has come to get new tires. I am curious what you guys think are the best tires to purchase. The car is my daily driver, and is only occasionally taken to the track. However I do street race on a regular basis. Any info you have would be greatly appreciated.

Just got some Nitto 555-R Drag Radials, and man do these things grip the pavement!

Just beware of the low tread life, also a little dangerous if you go on long high speed trips due to heat build up...

For more of a Daily use tire, Nitto's got some nice 555 standard radials too...

I'm running a set of Nitto's 555 and I love them. They grip the best out of any tire that I have run. I hope this helps you out.

Thanks for the input guys, I just went ahead and bought a set of kumho 712's. Anyone know anything about these particular tires? I bought off ebay, purely on the price...

I have them on my car. I posted a while ago warning everyone of these. They are the worst tires I have ever owned. ZERO grip. I am not even close to exaggerating. In the rain, they are close to being dangerous. High speed rating but no other uses. If you think I am kidding or exaggerating, you're in for a surprise. I was so disgusted at this tire that I called the salesman I ordered from and bi*$%ed them out. They assured me they were great, especially for the money. Hope you have no intentions of ANY racing. I'm convinced a 96 LX could spin these in second gear.

Well oh no... Damit, I cant beleive I bought these tires if this is the case. I though I was getting a phenomenal deal. Well in all truth I do very little serious racing, only mostly against ricer's so I guess it really wont matter. Not only that they have to be somewhat better than what I have now, very bald Falken Ziex. Which for the record I feel to be the worst tires I have ever owned. Thanks once again for the input.

Hey, let me know how you like them when you get them. Give them a week or two and post again. I'm interested. Maybe I got a bad batch. I tried to light them up one night and they wouldn't smoke. I looked at the tire, and they looked like the rubber had "flaked" off. Anyways, keep posted. Later!
