Are Torque Converter Interchangeable ??

Are Torque Converter Interchangeable ?? ie... AOD/AOD-E/4R70W units ??

No! Most converters are made for a specif trans aplication. A AOD has a pretty straightforward converter for a overdrive trans. An AODE trans has electronic controls that get the converter to "lock-up" in overdrive or even in drive if the engine load is right. This is all based on throttle position, manifold vacume, or the lack thereof, engine temp, air temp, vehicle speed ect ect ect.......
also the input shaft is different so thge converter would not spline up anyway.
I am not an expert on these transmissions, but I do have a handle on thery and operation and have done my share of trans swaps, shift kits, ect. so I "believe" that this is the right answer. If not I am sure someone will set the record straight and we will all learn something.

Roger that.

I just learned this myself. Although, AOD-E and 4R70W ARE interchangeable.

Anyone know of applications that have higher Stahl Speeds for these transmissions ??
