Default 87 LX, 4 cyl. transmission question....

I am wanting to know if the automatic transmission that came with the 4 cylinder version of my 87 LX would work with a V8 302. If not, what should I look for for a suitable replacement.

Default no

No the auto tranny in the 4cyl stangs is a a4ld and the stangs use the aod.

Well if I went and got an aod for the Stang, will it work with the factory wiring, computer, and other stuff?

Well I have an 87 Mustang LX with a factory 4 cylinder and automatic trans. I want to drop in a V8 302, and I am curious if the original trans would work. If not, then I am worried that if I drop in an AOD that would be compatable with the new V8, that the computer stuff that hooks up to it would not be compatable. I am afraid I do not know that much about transmissions and how they work with the computer.
Now the V8 I am dropping in will be carburated, not EFI, so the computer stuff there will not really matter.
All in all what I am wanting to accomplish is having this really sweet looking Stang, with a beefy V8 smoking the tires at the drag strip, but also nice enough to cruise around town in with the top down.

Default ok here it goes

the aod will work but you will need a special tv cable for a carbed car .Holcomb motorsports sells one i think for around 50 bucks ,but my suggestion would be to go with a c4.

The A4LD is the weakest heap of junk Ford ever lobbed out of it's worthless late model auto transmission plants. Don't even think about putting it behind a V-8, even if you could get it to work.
