Default Tremec 3650 - Good Deal?

Guys,

I found an ebay store (local to my area) that is selling the Tremec 3650 for $53. He is selling the shifter by itself. I would have to purchase the lever and handle separately ($14 for the lever), but it seems like a pretty good deal.

Any thoughts on the tremec? Or on the deal itself?

By the way it is totally brand new and for my 04 GT...

Thanks ahead of time,
Narsh

Be careful about buying a 3650; they are still considered a proprietary transmission by Ford and concsequently parts for them are extremely expensive. I just had one in the shop where 2nd gear is starting to go bad, and the rebuild kit is nearly $1200! Just the 1-2 synchro rebuild kit is $550. This is why you don't see rebuild kits advertised like you do for the T-5, 3550 or TKO. Most people are going to the TKO500 or TKO600 rather than rebuilding the 3650. You also won't find a scattershield for the 3650. For the prices that you've listed, I'd be extremely cautious about a deal-gone-bad. If it is really a brand new transmission, its worth $1500 easily on the open market.

Yeah...I am going to raise the BS flag on this one. In simple terms, "BUYER BEWARE". Don't so it unless you know what kind of deal it is and you know the tranny.

WHoah guys, I am not buying a new tranny... Just the shift kit. I actually did a little digging last night and am more than likely going with the Steeda Tri-Ax. But thanks for the heads up!
