cowl vent ram air idea
came up with this idea the other day.
what if you cut a hole from under the hood to the cowl vent and then make a bottom air cleaner peice that guids the air from the cowl vent into the engine compartment and then onto the air cleaner. somewhat like a ram air setup but this is stealth. ? any reason why this would not work? i know you would have issues with the air cleaner getting the air but i already have ideas for that and how to make it work.. i just need to know why you cant cut the hole and use that for ram air?? this sound good or did i forget something?? thanks guys.

Remember you will have to come up with a plan to control the water. Rain happens!

I have had my falcon cut like that for about 2 years now. It works great water has not been a problem on mine.

Ram air
You could always just build a conventional ram air set up. That's what I did on my '66. It was some work but not too much expense. I does work well.

Ram air
Yes, I did run them through the radiator support. I enclosed the 14" K&N and standard air cleaner housing. The enclosure is made from a cut down 33 gallon drum with Home Depot adjustable ducts attatctched with (don't laugh) Bondo. The flexible ducts themselves are 4" plastic yard drain also from Home Depot with rectangular end pieces that go out through the radiator support. I did the cutting of the metal 33 gallon drum with an electric jig saw. The bottom and top of the enclosure is attatched to the air cleaner top and bottom with bolts. The top of the enclosure is just the drum top and is held on with the air cleaner stud and wing nut.
