I saw this posted on another site and was shocked after reading this thread that someone could actually think it would be OK to do what he did to another persons car.
It is good to see that the owner will be getting some payback but, I am sure it isnt' going to be enough. For the amount you pay for service, the least they could do is respect your wishes and treat your car with respect. I say "Hang him high by his family jewels" |
Hey, I would just like to post my thoughts too on this.
To the idiot that started this thread... there are no words to say how bad of a person you are. I'll leave it at that. To Todd and his wife: So far I've read that he's bene fired and you are now taking legal action. I would just like to say goodluck and I hope for the best for you guys. |
Stangman.... Your a true moron. You post on a public board and expect not to get caught??
You might have been fine with just the story, but then you go out and post her plate #. You deserve to lose your job and hopefully get blacklisted at every mechanics within a 200 mile radius. I post on a lot of mustang boards (including this one) and have never seen something so idiotic. Don www.socalwildhorses.com www.dfwstangs.com www.corral.net |

Being another Ford nut in San Antonio, this situation really made me sick. I have done business with Northside Ford in the past, fortunately only for parts and not service.
If the victims are still reading all these posts, I really need them to get in touch with me via email or IM since Kens 4 WOAI News has contacted me in order to do a story about all this on the local NBC News affiliate station. Since I do not know them personally, I cannot contact them. If anyone can help, please contact me and I can pass along the information that I have. As to the ex-technician and Northside Ford, they share the blame. Certainly, the ex-technician shoulder most of it, but the other techs (especially the one along for the ride) must have known what was going on, as well as the others that work in that department. How many times do you see two technicians get in a car to "test" it out. This wasn't just another Taurus wagon being pulled out of the garage. If the managers who supervise this crew were unaware of these things taking place, that is just another indication of the problem. While I prefer my 76 and 71 Ford Broncos, I still have respect for all the other folks out there that put their time, money, and heart into their automobiles, import or domestic. While just about anyone on this board is faster than I am, I'll be happy to race you over a two foot rock! ;) I hope this is resolved fairly for the Cobra owners. Just a darn shame if you ask me. Like someone said before, not all Texans are that stupid... |
abuse at Ford delaer?
What a surprise to find a Ford mechanic who don't give a damn about the customer or Ford's name (as beatup as it is).
Heard that this 'gentlemen' has lost his job - don't know for sure, but he certainly won't get any sympathy here. I know there are Ford mechanics out there who are competent, do care, and don't abuse customer's cars - they're being tared by the actions of those that don't. Ford, spend your limited money on fixin' the damn problem, a commercial about how your the best place to get your Ford car serviced is a joke - and a sad one. You ain't going to fool those who know first hand that your service is pitiful - and word (such as this classic example) travels . . . fast. And I know from many years of experience it isn't an isolated incident. |
As a car enthusiast and as a car dealership employee, I have two really good reasons to hate this guy and everyone like him. His actions reflect on us and give us ALL a bad name. I work in the service department of a car dealership and have held this position at a few different brand dealerships. I have been behind the wheel of 'Vettes (even ZR-1s), 300Z TT's, RX-7's, Porsche Turbos, BMW's, 'Benzes and even a Dodge Viper, and believe me, I wanted worse than anything to conduct a little test session now and again because I AM a car enthusiast, but I am also a professional who values his job and a human who treats others the way he would hope to be treated. I have seem dealship employees wreck cars and the result is very ugly, as it should be.
I work too hard to pay for my cars. The clutch linings, the brake pads and the gas, it is all MINE and I paid to use it all up, not for some immature wannabe scrote to use up. This guy is a world class turd and so is ANYBODY who defends him. If you don't think so, call me the next time you're out of town and let me "house sit" for you. Leave plenty of beer in the fridge for the party I'm gonna throw (he didn't say he put gas in her car) and we'll see what your furniture, your neighbor's ears and your stereo can do. Also leave me your wife/girlfriend (which I doubt you have, so a sister/mom will do) to party with too, after all I'm very enthusiastic about women and "it's what ANY enthusiast would do", right? To the jerks who say they got what they deserved or what do they expect, if you buy a $30k car and the something craps out, I suppose you fix it yourself, huh? That would be the smart thing, spend your money, instead of warranty paying for it. How STUPID does that sound? My heart goes out to the owners of an incredible car, as I have my doubts about taking my car in for service for fear of some lowlife not being able to curb his impulses. Sorry to be so long winded, but this really touched a nerve, as it seems to have for many. |
I got wind of this thread on www.maxima.org and posted it on www.nissanx.com and it will be posted on www.autopia.org.
To Tracie and her husband; It's bastards like him that make it hard for enthusiasts like us to trust technicians with our prized vehicles. I hope you really stick it to him and the dealership for their pathetically callous attitude toward your situation. To the assmunch that did this: I guess you really have more balls than brains, huh?!? Yeah, I actually agree that your new title fits you to a T (Unemployed Dumbass). I share the same sentiments as everyone else in that you are a complete and utter ****-tard. I am in agreement with gbranton in that we work hard for our cars and we don't appreciate anyone trashing them. If this was my Maxima, losing your job would be the least of your worries. To the dealer: I hope they sue your *** for gross negligence if you do not give them a new car. To everyone else: This is not the first thread where we as enthusiasts have come together. But this is the kind of thing that makes me glad I am an enthusiast. It's nice to see us all come together despite the regions of the world we are in and the type of car we may drive. Even we Maxima owners are not immune from ****-tard-itis. We had a case where a service technician literally dropped a Maxima from a lift and the dealer is being a total retard. |
What about customer relations?
Quote:
It could have been nothing more than free maintenance for the remainder of the warranty period or some similar consideration. Just something that acknowledges that the customer has been mistreated and that clearly communicates a desire to repair the relationship. Firing the tech is just the first, minimal, step and may amount to nothing more than punishing him for getting caught. Until the dealer does something that puts some of their skin into the resolution, the customer is left wondering whether the dealer really values their business or is just performing obligatory damage control. Unfortunately, it seems this dealer chose to do nothing for an aggrieved customer. That's why this isn't over yet. Unfortunately, no gesture will matter at this point but if it were my car, I'd still be pressing it just to get the dealer to admit they are responsible for the conduct of their employees and have an obligation to operate according to that principle. |
The Goons at [http://www.somethingawful.com]Something Awful[/url] send Todd and his wife their condolences.
Personally, as the son of a 41-year veteran mechanic, this sickens me and gives mechanics and people like my father a bad name. You should never work anywhere near anything motorized again. |

dumb
Well, I saw this on the forums at www.badassmofo.com
and as a fellow Mustang owner (95 Mustang GT) I was incredibly pissed. I am a young one, 16 coming October 20th (however, it IS MY car). But i still have the love for the car you know. I still have the initial naivenesss of course. However, if I heard that someone did anything like that to my car i would be uber pissed. Not very smart...glad you had fun though...its the last fun you'll have for awhile I am guessing. |
not too smart....also found at www.s-series.org Assholes like you give good techs like me bad names...thanks Mr. A--hole Oh by the way some of us techs actually care about the cars not to trash them. I have worked hard for my own stuff and nothing has been givin to me, I think you would value it alot more if you pay for it. I dont see the fun in beating someone elses car......I actually am not one to do excessive speed like that (I like coming home t my 2 children and wife every night) Good luck to the owners in their pursuit of happiness with this D--K. My .02

with everything that's been said already, just wanted to thank the person who runs this website for sharing this with everyone else in the world. just so that we're aware of what MIGHT happen at any dealership/autobody shop/car repair shop/etc. thanks!

Linked from streetracing.org. No updates from stangman on his job? :D
|
Hi,
As a former owner of a 94 and 96 GT Convertible, and as a general car nut, I am disgusted that this guy would do that, and then have the yans to post about it. Hey Stangman.....you know whats "wayyyyyyyyyy cooolllllll"? Its how you got busted. You are lucky the owners dont drag you out back, hogtie your lowlife ***** and bi..hslap you. Even that, is too good for you. You really need your kneecaps broken. Then maybe you would learn to respect what someone has worked and spent their hard earned moola on. I picked up this thread on www.clublexus.com, and to the Mr. and Mrs. who own this car, I offer my sincere condolences. Best of luck to you guys and your beautiful ride. |
One good thing out of this...a LOT of Mustang lovers (such as myself) have discovered this EXCELLENT forum.
I am just SO glad I don't have to empty Northside Ford's mailbox tomorrow. Does anyone know if this has made the local media in San Antonio? |
In from www.memepool.com
I don't drive anything special, (no really, it's not special, I'm not kidding) but I know that IF I had a hot car, I would want to be the one who controls how fast it goes and WHEN and WHERE.
It's not just high performance techs who jerk people around. It's the regular mechanics too. For this reason I study up on my car and know as much as I can about what the problem MIGHT be before I take the car in to the shop. And they better not try and rip me off telling me that I need work done that I don't. I've had that happen and the mechanic paid big time. To mechanics: We're watching, and we're not all dumb. Screw with one of us, and you screw with us all. |
As a member of Discussanything.com I'd like to let you know that I have linked to this thread here. I am with you one hundred percent in this. That imbocile and his superiors will get what they deserve.
|
I havn't read all 12 pages of this thread nor do I entend to. I have far better things to with my time.
I just wanted to say to Stangman; You are a moron. What thought process went through your mind that allowed you to justify taking a car that wasn't yours nor did you have the approval of the owner to take the car and do what you did. YOU AND PEOPLE LIKE YOU are the reason that I afraid to leave my cars anywhere, to get inspected, worked on, valleted, or anything that envolves anyone but I driving it. I am glad that you lost your job, you deserve it. |
I heard about this thread on LtownRacing.org in PA. I have always been apprehensive about taking my vehicles in for servicing. I have witnessed brand new cars being taken of carriers in an eratic behavior with scraping sounds comming from the vehicles. I had my car in for inspection at a local garage, got a phone call that my car was done, and when I came to get it the car was no where to be seen. I asked where my car was and was told a mechanic took it for a road test. Well, this mexhanic came tooling in with my top down holding coffees and snacks from 7-11! Some road test. Needless to say I never took my Stang back there again. I lement deeply for Tracie and her Cobra. I hope all works out for the best.

Here's wishing stangman great success with his new job at Jiffy Lube..... |
Hello all, just visiting from www.turbodieselregister.com
A similar thing happened to me when I took my truck in for a recall. The difference here was that I saw the Mechanic leave the lot with my truck. 15 minutes later he returns....the brakes smelled hot, and the bonehead shut the engine down with over 650F showing on the Pyrometer (yes it is a modified Dodge Diesel dyno'd at over 370 Rear wheel HP) normal around town temp is about 450-500F...I smelled a Rat......I vented on the service manager and felt much better. This is definately not an isolated case. I admit that I abuse my truck, but I want to be the one that screws it up...not some idiot Monkey at the dealer. |
This is awful. Just wanted to let you know that you've got our support over at www.escape-central.com too.
New Beetle owners care too, http://forums.newbeetle.org/showthre...threadid=18607 :) |

Stupid, just plain stupid.

Hello fellow car enthusiasts.
Just wanted to come by from Miata.net and show support for the owners of the abused Mustang. You have my best wishes and although I cannot speak for the rest of the great people at Miata.net, I'm sure they would give them too. I hope that everything turns out great for the owners of the car (Todd and Tracy is it?), and I also hope that the dealership and tech get what they have coming (and more!). Best of luck! Neph http://neph.threethirteen.net/Picture%20002.jpg |
Quite an impressive thread!
This has generated interest over at Miata.net as well: http://www.miataforum.com/ubb/ultima...1;t=008041;p=1 Needless to say most agree that it's not cool for a 'Tech' to screw around with someone else's personal property, which is exactly what happened in this instance. I've owned 3 Mustang GT 5.0 convertibles, two which were bought new, off the showroom floor, one which was highly modified. I could write a book about all the abuse that my cars and I received at the hands of the "trusted" mechanics at the dealerships and private garages I took my cars to over the years. Suffice to say, I'm not surprised at reading what happened with the Cobra. I am surprised at how utterly stupid Stangman96 was to have bragged about this on a public forum. I wish the owners of this Cobra the best of luck but to be honest, I think the most they can hope for is what they've already received..the dismissal of the "Tech" and perhaps a lifetime of free oil changes.. Fortunately Mustangs are built to take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. A month after I dropped my new 351 Windsor into my '91 Stang I dynoed it twice, drove it 1400 miles to test and tune it and took it up to 125 mph..On the road course! The car did just fine. But the fact that their car emerged unscathed is no excuse for the lack of respect they received and this kind of treatment. They deserved better..even if the owner was *only* a woman! It would be nice to think that paying $35k for a car would indeed guarantee "Quality Care" but as long as very fallible, immature human beings are hired to work on our cars there can be no guarantees. I'm not sure if I would even blame the dealership for this act..but I'd sure as hell be expecting the dealer to be keeping a close eye on the mechanics wrenching there in the future! It's for this reason that over the years I learned to do a lot of the work myself or stayed with my car while it's being worked on..but unfortunately that isn't always possible. So one can only hope and pray. In the end, I come off as so particular and such a wack job when it comes to my cars that most of the people who work on them are afraid to BREATH on them..never mind beat on 'em! :p Believe me,..it helps because they know that I'll be watching and waiting for any screw ups..Lord help 'em! :D So my advice is to make a fuss over the little things..so the big things never happen. ;) One thing about this thread...Hopefully dealers all over will realize that the power of the Internet is indeed a formidable weapon..one that can be used to the CONSUMER'S advantage..and they will indeed toe the line and make sure that things like this don't happen. Word of mouth (the printed word) can indeed be a powerful tool. Caveat de' emptor and good luck to all. |
I don't usually post on these boards...but anyways, here's my .02:
Quote:
I don't even own a Mustang....I own a Camaro (I found my way here from the 82-92 F-Body boards), and this makes me mad as hell... I've lost a car because of sleazy mechanics before, so I know how it feels...but it was replacable... take my treasured $35k pony car without asking me, and your gonna be best friends with "Mr. Tire Iron"! I hope "stangman96" is shown NO MERCY and is used as an example to all the other mechanics/techs like him that are out there! |
Wow Neph..You beat me by one minute! :D
I read thru all 12 pages..saw nothing from us Miata folk and figured since I've been a Mustanger since '86 I would throw my .02 cents in and give regards. The More the Merrier. :) In the end it doesn't matter what kind of car you drive..we can all, as consumers and enthusiasts, relate to this kind of shoddy treatment and emphasize completely. :( Quote:

Well....
I decided to join up and let the members of Motor City Online (online racing game) know about this to see what they think. Therefore, I posted a link to this post here:
http://www.boards.mco.ea.com/ Give it time, it's still early in the morning, I'm sure we'll get some replies. To the owners, I think everything that can be said has been said, so I'll just wish you the best of luck, glad the guy was fired.:D |
I guess I'll be the first from CamaroZ28.com to chime in.
Everything has been said already, so I'll just add my condolences. Being from right outside of San Antonio myself (New Braunfels to be exact) I'll make sure I let people thinking about using that dealership know about this. Hopefully everything gets taken care of. :) Good luck with everything. :p |
I caught the link on www.probetalk.com , another Ford enthusiast BB, a couple of days ago, but this is the first I've seen the server functional enough to post. I am outraged that stangman has such a lack of respect for another person's property. This is stuff we learned in Kindergarten for Chrissakes. You remember: be kind, show respect for other people and their things, be quiet in the hallways, say "I'm sorry"... Seems to be pretty simple stuff to me, but I'm guessing stangboy (a man would not have done it..) ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer..
Getting stang relieved from his duties as auto technician would not have been good enough for me. Since he drove the car as if it were his own, I'm thinkin' that he should be buying it through payroll deductions. I'm certain that he would be plenty well qualified to find the drain plug and oil filter on most cars, and the buttons for the automatic car wash are green for go, and red for stop. In addition, all his good work would be accomplished with only Buffalo brand tools from Harbor Freight, because I would own his box of Craftsman, Snap-On, and Cornwells. He uses the argument that the car had already been flogged on a dyno, and that he just "had to do it". Last I checked, the risk of trashing a car was pretty minimal, because the dyno isn't moving at 140 mph. Oh, and the I just had to do it defense? Well he did have someone accompany him on his little escapade. Maybe the passenger had a 9mm Glock pointed at stangs head. Or he just finished a roast beef and mushroom sandwich, and the speedo grew bigger and bigger, chanting, I want my needle BURIED big boy...Welcome to the excuse dujour. With all these folks walking around, completely under the control of some unseen power, unable to think and act on their own, it is no wonder that we get daily aural assaults from the media about a murder at a car show, (NOPI) 2 teens killed in high speed chase, (local), and 2 people getting killed at stop light in St.Louis, and having their dubs jacked while they bled to death in the front seat. Thanks, stang, for pushing the degredation of society another tenth down the road. All in all, I think that if there was an evening show for stupidity (kind of a Meet My Parents/ Weakest Link combo) you stang, would get my vote for the double digit IQ award. Now you probably think it's pretty cool, being in the shape of the number 10, and all that, but that ten is only good enough for a spot at WalMart as a greeter. Your chances of being promoted to cart pusher are slim to none, and slim is outta town, cause they can't be guaranteed you wont test drive a cart. Smooth PS: In all seriousness, the dealership should step up to the plate, and provide an extended warranty, and inspections/ oil changes every 3k for the car, paid for out of stang's final check. This gives both parties an equal footing. The owner is compensated in the event something happens, the dealer gets to monitor the condition of the car every 3k, and stang pays for his joyride. |
WHAT A SPLOODGE THAT IDIOT WAS

I saw the link to this on WWW.BENDOE.COM. I would strangle anyone that did such a thing to my 69 Mustang !!!! I'm glad he lost his job !!! My first car was a 66 & I have always had a stang in the garage since then. Let's all hope that someday that guy gets a car or bike he cherishes & some guy takes it out & wrecks it for him. I am soooo tired of people that have no respect for another person's property.

Found out about this link at www.starquestclub.com
http://www.starquestclub.com/index.p...187134;start=0 I really can't add anything new about Stangman but I wanted to wish Tracy and Todd good luck with this. It sucks that one persons stupidity really gives everyone a bad rep. And to those that supported Stangmans actions your just as big of a RETARD as he was. |
This story is really getting all over
I found this forum listing at http://www.memepool.com , read the whole thing and had to put in my .02.
To the owners; I am hoping that you are getting something from the dealership besides a pat on the head and an "Oh, that's too bad!" , but I have not seen a decent customer relations decision come out of businesses in these types of situations for many years. To the pathetic moron and his supporters; Be glad that all that has happened is that you lost your job and may have trouble finding another one - if it had been my car, there would be a lot more things happening to you. |

Well, just got wind of this (guess I'm a little behind the times) and just want to say I'm sure I speak for everyone at AnythingCars when I say that this tech is an asshat, and I'm glad he got fired. It's certainly less than he deserves for being such an UTTER FREAKING MORON, but, what else can you do?
Mr. and Mrs. Todd, I hope everything turns out well for you. Good luck. |
Well i would just like to say i got sent this link all the way from Car Audio Australia ... that's right, u r now internationally famous!
i feel really sorry for the owner of the car, i also bet stangman is regretting posting now! anyways, be interesing to see what happens! DrEvil (All the way from www.caraudioaustralia.com) |
my advice,... get a lawyer
Section 31.07 of the Texas Penal Code states:
TX PENAL § 31.07 § 31.07. Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle (a) A person commits an offense if he intentionally or knowingly operates another's boat, airplane, or motor-propelled vehicle without the effective consent of the owner. (b) An offense under this section is a state jail felony. You may argue that the operative term "effective consent" would allow you off the hook because, arguendo, the owner of the Mustang "consented" to you taking possession of the vehicle and using it for the purpose of repairing it. But, Section 31.01 of the Texas Penal Code states [in part]: TX PENAL § 31.01 § 31.01. Definitions (3) "Effective consent" includes consent by a person legally authorized to act for the owner. Consent is not effective if: (A) induced by deception or coercion; The consent that was given for the express or implied purpose of repair has been nullified by the bad acts which you perpetrated upon her vehicle and solidified into a criminal offense by your statement of intent to joy ride posted on this board. There is a mistatement of law on this board where someone stated that you could always say that someone else typed your messages and name. Investigators can subpoena the IP records, e-mail records, your name, log on times, address and phone number from this message board, your ISP and your place of business in order to bring criminal prosecution against you. Your statement that you were not ther person posting from your terminal would be weighed by a jury and they would decide whether or not you were the person posting the message. Given the veracity of the statements made and their content,... I believe a jury would find against you. It would be in your best interests to hire a lawyer. |
Greetings from http://lawnsite.com!
Yep... even the professionals in the "Green Industry" knows about this one! Hey stangturd, don't come looking for a job in the lawn and landscape biz...even we do not appreciate the thought of some jerk abusing our equipment! Ah well, what goes 'round...comes 'round. Good luck, RaceRat and Todd. I hope you see some compensation from the dealership in return for having for awesome ride flogged by that nutjob of a tech. One good thing though...I found this killer Mustang site! :D |
I too am one that joined just to post on this subject. While I am a Power Stroke pick up guy, I was thoroughly pissed by the actions of this moron. He has made him self known on Lawn Site.com http://lawnsite.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34716.
Glad to hear he lost his job, I would be getting a totally new ride out of the deal. I would see to it that the Dealer took this one in the shorts. P.S. I have to laugh that two guys in a row posted here that they heard about this from lawnsite. |
WELCOME NEW MEMBERS...
GOOD MORNING ALL!
Not to take away about the subject on hand....but after reading the new posts, it looks like we now have QUITE A FEW NEWBIES ON BOARD HERE AT MW!!!!! :D Glad to see some of you are gonna stick around here at our awesome Stang Site! :) WELCOME!! Glad to have you here!!!!!!!! Also, I dont know if ya'll have read but RaceRat was instructed by her lawyer to not post or participate in any more of this at this time....so, I guess things are moving along..... I'm also surprised, (well, not really) of the number of other stories out there that ya'll have expierienced the same thing!!!! You can bet your a$s that the consumers now have a better idea of what REALLY goes on!!!!! Thanks guys for eveyones support! Have a GREAT WEEKEND!!!!! TNT  |
It is a fresh topic on our board as of Saturday, September 28th. We are out of West Texas.
AnythingCars.com http://www.anythingcars.com/cgi-bin/...=ST&f=1&t=3297 So whatever happend to the genious that did this????? |
It's not about cars, it's about respect
After reading all the posts, all the links.. (geez I have way too much time on my hands...) I have come to the conclusion that this isn't about anything else but respect for someone else's property. It touches so close to home because everyone has that fear, that someone is going to abuse their stuff. I've read sites that I would have never ever made it to including this one, all because someone not only didn't have respect for other people's property but had the ballz to brag about it thinking that the had the "right".
I don't have a car with any mods or anything special. It is just a plain Neon 2001. I wouldn't want some tech doing anything to it, from smoking in it to running errands as a "test drive." I expect nothing but professionalism from the dealership to the technician. Fix what's broke, check it to make sure that it's not still broken, and charge me a fair price for it. To the Operator of this board... Thanks for keeping it up with all the hits. To the regulars, sorry that one asshat lagged your server. Unfortunately we must be vigilant in making sure that people do not take advantage of our things. A shame, because there are honest, hardworking people out there. Just like it was in grade school, it takes one idiot to ruin it for everyone. |
