Default Made it to Pontiac

Just thought I'd let everyone know it made it to my Grand Am site. This thread is gettin around!

Gotta say that guy was an idiot for doing it and even more so for posting about it.

I wrenched on cars for over 10 years and never did this. One shop was a European car shop (porsche, etc) and I would never have dreamed of doing that. One time one of our idiot mechanics took a Corvette that the shop owner requested we work on out for a night drive around the hills of San Franciso and brought it back the next morning. I got to hear all about how he was "flying" off the hills. To bad the shop owner requested we work on it because it was his attorney's Corvette. Needless to say, he was not there much longer.

Nice board. If I owned a Stang (or buy one in the future) I'd be here on a regular basis.

Cheers,

Bill

Hey Blue01GT,

Here's a newsflash for you, we aren't going to stop flaming you. I like the way you sincerely said you were sorry for your comments before. Its amazing how one can have a change of heart after the entire world jumps down their throat.
By the rest of your message its obvious you still feel the same. You are just sorry you got caught!! And by the way, not all of the people in the world are like you, sorry to burst your bubble. Some of us work for a living, have character, and believe in the value of earned trust. Trust, you know that thing that obviously no one has ever had in you!! Trust is the reason I can enter my friends car museum and I could ask him to take out any of the numerous Shelby's he has for a test drive and he would hand me the keys and say have fun. But you know what, I don't because if I can't afford my own, then I sure as hell can't afford to pay for his if I were to wreck it.
Why don't you do us all a favor, and go race you GT off a pier.

Angry

I see that the site is running fine now.. so the barrage has ended. I hope it's ok that I post my support.

Here's a shoutout from http://mpsport.net, revscene, import classifieds and the protege owners club.

Car enthusiasts 'round the world UNITE!

I wanna say to racerat and poor todd that you've got my total support. Awesome that you've put stangman96 out in the cold & on his *** where he belongs. But I hope you get more compensation. Glad to hear you've gotten a lawyer.

It makes it hard to trust mechanics. I know there are a lot of good ones, and just some bad ones that spoil it all. It happens in just about every profession.

.|, to stangman96... and NO I do NOT want my windshield squigeed right now!

blue01GT.. I hope you realize just how wrong your opinion was.

And to the rest of ya supporters... thumbs up.

The hikers of the Lost Coast Hiking Forum chiming in here in support of the poor Cobra owner.

Even though we get around on two legs rather than four wheels, our hearts and prayers go out to you.

To the tenderfoot chump who STOLE the car: Don't cross paths with us or we'll kick the hell out of you, and our trail-hardened legs can certainly kick.

Stangman: You're an idiot for driving that fast period. Doing it in another persons car makes you irresponsible. If it was your own mustang under those circumstances you probably wouldn't be getting flamed as much.

Blue01gt: You're an accessory to an idiot for defending stangman. I work at a dealership and people trust me with their cars all the time. I've never gone above 80 (on a tole road), or 45 in traffic. The vehicles I drive are Volvo S60's and S80 (you look up the price, it's alot more than a mustang.) I know that when i'm handed those keys I'm trusted with someone's car. They paid alot of money for that car, and for them to even allow me to drive it is a privilage. They trust me, and I wouldn't want them to lose their trust in me.

Stevegt: "True. Blue01GT, buy a Civic." -- Don't say that, cause then I'll have to deal with this ******* doing whatever the top speed in a civic is (95?mph). As a Nissan owner I can tell you that there are enough assholes in Civics already.

Poor Todd: You should have gotten a work order back when you got your car back from the shop. The name (or employee number) of who worked on the car should be listed on there. That's how you know for sure who drove it. Demand that the dealership be held accountable.

MineralGray02K: Nice 740 turbo.

Everyone else: Always ask around about a dealerships reputation. Poor Todd didn't have a choice since he had to go to the SVT dealer. I know that alot of the dealerships around mine have bad reputations for driving like nuts. Our mechanics take good care of the cars, and if they take one to lunch its for a real roadtest (ODBII hooked up and taking snapshots), and the customer knows about it.

what would you have done in his position? i think 99% of all people on this site really would have done the same thing no matter what they claim to have chosen to do. being sensible and practical is not part of being a mustang enthusiast. STUPID is old grey-haired people like you that own a 400hp car and drive it like a freekin geo metro

Personally, I would have taken that car out to at LEAST 140 just like stangman and to HELL with the consequences. (i drive 150 in my GT every time i go up the I-5). And regarding the unsafe practice of speeding.. OF COURSE WE KNOW ITS DANGEROUS AND IRRESPONSIBLE!!! thats what makes it fun!! if its safe, slow, and practical, then its boring and, to quote you, "stupid". people who soup up mustangs will drive their cars like fighterjets and thats just the nature of the beast. its an addiction that is celebrated, not shunned.

Part of servicing cars is making sure they work right and a factory-supercharged cobra is designed to be redlined and worked hard. its got 6speeds for a reason! so how do you know its working right unless its driven like a cobra should be driven? Im sure stangman found a nice empty straight road to go 140 and did his "stupid" act as "smart" as possible. I am envious of stangman, and i wish him many more kickass test drives in cobras.

if that was my car, i wouldnt have complained about those so-called "problems" in the first place. and if it was broken by a techie, id just make the dealership give me a new one. the responsibility and risk was on his hands and the customer had nothing to lose except maybe a few extra days with a rental car.

when was the last time you even squealed tire or redlined your engine, wade73? 20 years ago when you were able to floor the gas without breaking a hip? maybe you should invest in an astrovan with a wheelchair lift, mustangs are wasted on people like you.
**** You *** hole. My wife is in a wheelchair I wish I'd know where you live I'd kill you with my bare hands.

I saw this on a Lincoln Mark VII board.

1. It's ridiculous.
2. It should be common sense that nobody should defend this guy.
3. To say that if you dont run your car hard all the time, you're not an enthusiast, is complete bunk. Be smart and save it for the track.
4. To say that having the car DYNOED is the same as what was done is VERY ignorant. I havent seen threads like this about Dyno operators blowing motors, hitting buildings or rolling over the vehicles....There isn't as much opportunity for disaster in a controlled environment.
5. I only let people drive any of my six vehicles when ABSOLUTELY necessary. My girlfriend of four years doesn't even touch them. On the same note, I WILL NOT drive someone elses car unless there's another option. That's just me. If I wreck my car or truck, fine, but if someone else does, no matter WHO it is, there will be resentment.

In this case, neither the S60 or the S80 starts out more expensive than a $40k Mustang Cobra convertable. Not to mention the Cobra's are seeing thousands of extra tacked onto them in most cases due to the very limited nature of the car.

Don't know if you're referring to me or not. Yes I have seen and heard of engines being blown up on dynos. It's why many operators ask you to sign a waiver. If you've ever seen dynoing being done you might notice that taking a car up to redline while in a 1:1 gear generally results in a few seconds of all the car has, along with the driveline being subjected to spinning the wheels at triple digit speeds.

My point stands. If you've taken your car to a dyno, and had it tuned, and tested on it before the car has gone through initial break-in, you have little room to complain about possible damage from some numbnutz punk SVT mechanic taking your car out for a 140mph joy ride.

That being said, we don't know if the car was in the initial break in phase, not that it matters. Outside of the break in the engine will not be harmed from a "normal" 140mph run either. Now the way he operated the car during that run could be disputed. He may have overreved it, ground gears in the tranny, etc. He admitted he beat the hell out of the car, and that's why I feel there should be at least an extended warranty for free tacked on.
