Cool

In the front passenger's side of the engine bay you will see the air filter housing that is held on to the air intake tube via a large metal clasp. While looking at the air box you will see a rubber piece that is attached to the plastic air box and goes into the fender. The rubber piece is the air silencer. This can be removed from the air filter box. Using an 8mm wrench or socket remove the bolt holding the air box to the fender. Pull the air box/silencer away from the fender. BE CAREFUL OF THE MAF WIRING!!! DO NOT damage the wiring or the sensor. The air silencer is easy to remove just be careful when doing it. The air silencer just pulls off of the plastic air box. Put back into place making sure the two rubber mounts underneath the airbox go back into the correct holes in the metal "pan", for lack of better terminology, under it(you can feel under there and can also see the holes with the air box removed). Bolt it back up and you're ready to go.

This is done as the air silencer restricts the intake of air a bit. But it will also cause more of the hotter, under the hood air to be breathed into the engine.

The best set up would be a ram air system which will benefit much more by helping to "feed" the cooler outside air to the engine. Actual ram air, though, doesn't actually "ram" the air into the engine. The ram air system will only work that way when you are traveling well over 100 mph (can't remember exact mph).
