Question What is the stock ET times for the 98GT

I have a 98 GT with few mods like K&N and flowmasters. I want to know the 1/4 times of the stock Mustang because I can't find it in my magazines. Oh yes by the way, who has performed the POST_CUT on the stock Mass Air?? I am planning to cut it but I read it somewhere that if you grin the surface well, it will make your car surge? Anybody has this problem?

Wink

If I remember correctly, I was running mid-15s in near stock form, with a best of 15.35 in the quarter. Now that I'm in the 14's, the search is on for a real power adder...;-)

To all you mod motored GT owners:
Don't delay, get your 3.73s today!

I have a '97 Mustang (5 spd) and ran a 14.91 with only a K&N and Flowmasters. That was with a 2.16 60 ft. time.
Hammer--
What kind of RPM's do you run at say:
35, 45, 65 MPH with the 3.73 gears? What affect did they have on gas mileage?

Actually, that's one of the best near stock times I've seen on the pre-99 modular... and if you're running standard street tires, that 60 ft time isn't too bad either.
(Was that a track time or G-Tech?)

I got a good boost in track performance from the 3.73s and pulleys, although I'm still trying to get a good launch down with the newer gears.... The gatorback goodyears have a hard time putting that torque to the ground at the track.
The street is a different story.
(I bet I'm .3-.4 sec faster on the street due to the better launches I get from the 3.73s on the street)
I'm seriously looking at a set of BFG g-Force T/A KDs when my gatorbacks go south, to get some bite back into my track launches.

As far as RPMs, I really can't think of what they might be right now, but I still have plenty of gear left at fast highway speeds.

I consider 3.73s a must have for modular owners... 3.73's love the power band of the modular motor and the fun of driving is greatly increased.

I have noticed just a bit more fuel consumption since the change, with the greatest difference in stop and go traffic.
Highway fuel usage is hardly affected.
Hope this helps...

I will be graduating in December, so the mustang should see 3.73 gears then. Most of the runs I have made were low 15 secs (10-20's), but the 14.91 was a near perferct run (at a track). I had just enough, but not too much wheel spin on the 2.16 60 ft launch. Most of my 60 ft times are in the 2.20-2.30 range where my car would either spin too much, or bog like hell. Bogging a 4.6 off the line really SUCKS!!!
