![]() My 99 4.6 some days just decides it won't idle. At first I thought it might be caused by the cold -10f. Today it was about 31f. and the same problem. I took it in to the dealer last week but the car would do no wrong. Any help or hints would be apreciated .

![]() Hmmm,
I think we'll need a bit more info here. When you say it won't idle, do you mean it dies? Idles too high or at various RPMs? Have you made any mods to your induction? (MAF, T-Body, Cold air kit) Does it occur after the engine is warm, or just near start up? ------------------ 98 GT Dyno-Max cat-back exhaust, 3.73 gears, Steeda shifter, Ford Motorsport Underdrive pullies, 87mm MAF and Roush cold air kit... |

![]() Check the IAC valve(idle air control). It is mounted to the intake behind the TB and looks similar to a miniature windsheild wiper motor. Remove it and clean it with carb cleaner or WD-40

![]() Thanks guy's your insite is appreciated.
Hammer, this sucker DIES even when its warm. I think something is very temperature (it freezes) sensitive and I feel it's a component located far enough away from the engine to not be affected by engine heat. Thanks again for the help. lewillie ------------------ 99/ Silver GT 4.6 SOHC M.S. headers 3.27 |

![]() My 99' was doing the same thing, ther was and air leak between the mass air and the throttle body, the crossover tube that runs from the driver side valve cover to the air intake tube had a lose connection. The problem was solved with small black zip ties and hasen't reoocured since, So chech for any lose fittings where air could get in between the T.B and the mass air. If you happen to have your speedo unhooked that would do the same thing as well.
