I did both... On my 1978 351W Zephyr, I did the 5-lug disk/drum brakes. http://www.dariusrudis.com/mustang/zephyr/zephyr1.jpg On my Mustang, I did the SN95 spindles with 2000 Cobra R Brembo calipers: http://www.dariusrudis.com/mustang/g...s/griggs21.jpg |
Re: 5 lug conversion

Re: 5 lug conversion
Your best bet would be to go ahead and commit to full disc all around. This will save you some trouble down the road, if and when you decide to go with a more aggressive brake setup.
If you are interested, I have the rear axles, and front and rear calipers and rotors off of my sn95. PM me or just send me an email, coronaman247@yahoo.com . Sn95 spindles would be the only thing to run down. |
Re: 5 lug conversion
I am curious how those bullit 17x10.5s are going to fit in the back. Do you know the backspacing for them? Keep in mind that the upgrade to newer style 5 lug includes new axles. The axles are .750" longer each so your wheels will move a total of 1.5" outward in the rear. I am not sure that you can keep the stock drums with the SN95 length axles. There is a company that makes a braket to keep the stock axle length for the rear disk brake (cobra) conversion. I recomened getting disk front and rear and measure to make sure the wheels will fit. I have a feeling they will stick out from the wheel well quite a bit. -Chris

Re: 5 lug conversion
im running the 17x8 98 cobras up front on sn95 spindles and they are as close to the outer fenderlip as i would get and at full lock turns they rub a little on the front at the a arm now i know alot of people out there are running 9's up front but they must be limiting the rack and or be setting out past the fender and as far as 10.5's in the back i would imagine the quads will be in the way for sure and you will probably have to roll the fenders i used the the sn95 3/4 inch longer axles and my backspacing is 5.98 and i had to roll the fender with the 8inch wheels if you use these axles you may get the 10.5's in there but you be real close
