my car is squeeking

Hello,
I'm new to the forum. I need some help trying to figure out what might be causing this noise. Most of the time when I go over bumps there is a loud squeeking coming from my car. Sounds like it's coming from the rear. I have replaced my rear shocks and the noise is still there. I was told by the dealer that it should not be my horizontal shocks regardless of the age of my car. The noise is getting to be a little irritating.
What do you think it is? Any ideas?

Could be the bushings in the control arms (upper or lower)...?

bushings

When they replaced my rear shocks they also greased all the bushings as far as I know

If the rear control arms are stock then they probably don't have grease fittings. So it could be the bushings squeeking.

Have you checked the rear spring isolators?

racerboy88 10-21-2003 08:07 PM

serious?

HOw serious is it if it is the axle bearing or spring isolator? My car makes that noise every time I go over bumps.

found my prob, it was the lower control arm bushing on the passenger side. the bolt that went thru the bushing was junked, about 1/4 the size it used to be. i went ahead and replaced the upper and lower control arms. no more squeek weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

You had that problem on a 98? I'm surprised.

this is the kit i bought

BBk has a kit for $280 but it doesn't come with the bushings for the rearend or any of the bolts.

bushings

I guess it's safe to assume that I could eliminate that squeeking if I replaced all of my stock rubber bushiings. They're still the original ones from the factory.
