Newbie needs help
Hey guys, just wanted to get a round-a-bout suggestion on what most people are finding works for them. as of now, all i've done to the car is eibach sportline springs with the stock tokicos, and iam not impressed at all. the car never sees the strip nor the track, but i love (trying to) playing around on the street and in the canyons. what would be an economical step toward better handling. thanks in advance.

Re: Newbie needs help
Go back and do a "historical" search thru this forrum.
I always say "get a plan" and decide what you want to make out of your car. Is it a daily driver? weekend cruiser? weekend racer? track car? All those will decide how much money/time you sink into your car. for starters, springs/shocks is about all you need for a daily driver. Then wheels/tires (put more rubber on the ground). Beyond that, you are going to start sinking some serious change, if you wish to improve your ride. |
Re: Newbie needs help
I always recommend welded subframe connectors as an early mod for any stang. They tighten up the handling and also reduce squeaks and rattles that can develop with time.
The only thing I would add to what Drudis said for a daily driver is a panhard bar if you want to go a step further. I had to build up my suspension in small steps for budgetary reasons and this was a great addition once I stiffened the chassis and did the basics. It helped immensely to cure the rear end wiggle and to make oversteer a little less snappy and more controllable (the quadrabind suspension curse). If you plan on getting crazy then you need a well-defined plan or you can end up spending money on the same parts twice due to component compatibility issues with the more aggressive setups (torque arm/panhard, 5-link, etc.). |
Re: Newbie needs help
Yes, on the subframes. Thats should almost be done first.
Just decide on what kind, and what goal. I did the weld-on subframes, only to cut them off and redo them with thru-the-floor ones (pain in the @$$) later, as that was what I should have done in the first place. http://www.dariusrudis.com/mustang/s...s/img_8053.jpg |

Darius - I was under the impression that you competitively raced your black LX. If so, what class are you able to run with the through-the-floor subframes?
