backspacing on 8" rims
Anyone ever ordered 16x8" rims before? What was the backspacing? I'll also be using 245/50 tires and don't want it to stick out or rub the fenders?

I had a set of ROH ZR6 wheels 16x8 with 245-50-16's and 245-45-16's. the 45's fit better on the 89 (smaller fender opening at 9:00 on the driver's front fender...).
Here are some "older" photos of my car HERE Unlike the newer phots of the 17x9-1/2" wheels 275-40-17's on all four corners in my sig. ------------------ Darius Rudis Roadracer: Home built t-arm/panhard suspension powered by an S-trimmed motor :-) My Mustang Page |
I'm hoping to get some '99 cobra's on mine... their 5.95 backspace should be alright, all the way around. They're only $500/set, and you can upgrade to larger brakes (although even the SN95 brakes are at least 20% better).
This would be with the SN95 axles, which are .75" longer... so you might want less BS on the rear (but you'd probably rub the inside up front). |
Hmmm... That makes me wonder? I've got a set of Granatelli tubular arms and I'm getting a HAL K-member, the arms are supposed to effect the vehicles yaw rate and by the looks of em' they seem to be longer than the factory control arms (this is just an eyeball comparison) course when I rip out the factory stuff I'll be able to measure them (control arm bushing CL to ball joint CL)and make a direct comparison. I plan on using a set of R-model Cobra rims(17 x 9.5) with 255 40 r 17s (I've got a 91 LX) and I wonder which offset I'll need to use, btw does anybody know whats involved in put SN95 spindles on a fox car?

I have the SN95 spindles that came with the M2300K Cobra brake kit. I dont know of a Cobra R rim with 9.5" width (unless we are not talking genuine Ford, which are 9").
Look at my sig (and website), there is a "wheels" page, and LOTS of Mustangs with Cobra R rims with 275-40-17's at the open track events. ------------------ Darius Rudis Roadracer: Home built t-arm/panhard suspension powered by an S-trimmed motor :-) My Mustang Page |
Sweet! so the SN95 spindles are a bolt in? on the older cars (at least with the M2300K brake kit?) I know the new spindles are bette r hardware and I figured if I'm gonna change the control arms and the K-member I outta just get the new spindles to go along with it.
