Brake pads
What brand and type of brake pads would ya'll recomend for a 96 Cobra doing drivers ed and open track events and mimimal street time?

Performance Friction "Z" pads. These are agressive street pads. I ran these on my stock 89 Mustang brakes. I thought they were a HUGE improvement over the stock pads. They didnt fade all too quickly, and when they did, I could back off, let the cooling ducts do their job, and the pads would come back. These pads were like $60 with a lifetime warranty (i.e. Free pads every summer).
Right now I run Performance Friction 90 Compound pads on my M2300K Cobra brakes. These are like $200+ for the fronts (ouch). THey are a GREAT track pad, but not any good on the street. ------------------ Darius Rudis Roadracer: Home built t-arm/panhard suspension powered by an S-trimmed motor :-) My Mustang Page |
Thanks Darius! I think I will try them, I really don't want to send $200 on pads that are only good "racing"! Do I need to change the rears also?

Look into the www.maximummotorsports.com brake pad "kit". Havnt used it, but look promising. I simply used PF Z pads on all fronts, that was enough.

Darius, Great thanks for the help. This looks exactly like what I had in mind. Streetable yet adequate for my drivers ed track time. Thanks again!!
