93 COBRA REAR

How much would you guys pay for a complete 93 Cobra rear? The guy selling it (and I guess it could be one of you guys) just called me back and he wants $1200. To me it sounds like a lot of money. I could buy a NEW Ford rear, axles and a rear disc conversion for about the same money or less depending on what I buy. Let me know what you think. Thanks

Ya, thats way too much, especially cause its used. I assume the cobra rear is the 8.8" w/ 3.08 gears? What is he selling it with, housing, diff., axels and brakes? A new ford racing housing and diff. is 700, the axels are 265, and thats new. If its just the housing I would say maybe 500(?) and withe axels and brakes 6-700(?). Also keep in mind you may want to swap gears too.

Yeah, after I posted the message and actually read it, I realized that it was a ridiculous amount of money. You were correct it has the original 3.08s in it and the car was wrecked. So that, along with the price has kind of made up my mind for me. Thanks for your input.
