Post Recommend any tires?

I posted a question just like this one in Windsor Power, but I figured you road racing guys might have a better ideal. I'm just looking for a good tire with good treadwear and sticks to the road. So if you have any suggestions let me have them. I'm seriously considering getting into raod racing as I think it fits me better. Guess I'll have to switch out the 3.73's for 3.55's if I decide to do this.

How much are you looking to spend? Look at the Tire Rack's website, punch in the size tire you are looking for, speed rating, etc & up pops your choices. They have a customer survey that you can review on each tire which is very helpful & they do quite a few tire reviews. No, I don't work for them, but have bought several sets of tires from them.

You get what you pay for (in the big names) like GSC's K/D's...
Look for a soft compound tire, and just live with the wear. I used to run autocross compound tires as my only tires. I just limited my number of trips to nice days, and _definitely_ no rain days.

I used to have Goodyear GSC's, now I have Michelin Pilots SX MXX3 and refuse to put on anything but the Michelins. They grip the road like there is no tomorrow! They are very expensive though. You get what you pay for.

Try em once, and I bet you will be blown away.

Wink

I've tried BFG K/D's and Nitto 555R's, but for the money, I recommend Michelin XGT4's. I was overly surprized. They have very good grip, good wear and not too expensive. I paid $165 a tire, and compared to the BFG's that is cheap! hope I've helped a little.

I've had BFG's on my car since I bought it. I run 225/55/HR16 Comp T/A. I haven't had any problems with them not hooking up nicely. I've lowered my car with progressive rated Eibach springs and can consistently go through corners well over posted limits on the road...have been know to take a corner posted for 45 at 70-80mph, and another that's posted for 25 at 45-50 (little bit hairy though as there's a decent bump as you exit that one) and I've never had a problem with traction. I have also found that they do fairly well on wet roads with normal driving...I don't make it a habit of driving hard through corners when it's wet...just my $.02.
