Default cam or gears?

i put my 4.6 mustang in the garage this winter and figured i'd do a little work to it. i got new bbk shorty headers, and now i'm trying to decide if i should put different gears in the back or a new cam. anybody know which will give more performance with the best gas mileage....and maybe which one's easier to put in? thanks

I dont know much about the 4.6's, but from what i can think of is that most of the crap for them is pretty spendy. I think new cams are one of the most expensive parts for the 4.6, and im guessing its not the easiest thing to do. If i were you, I would stick in some new gears. Probably alot easier, and cheaper. Gas mileage might suffer a bit though. I dont know alot about the new stangs, but from what i think i know that is the route i would travel.

Dont know about 4.6L cam(s), but gott be more expensive than the 5.0L cams I have installed.

THe gears will run you $200 and $200 installation =$400 total. Best bang for the buck if you are drag racing or street stoplight action. You will FEEL like you added more power, as torque (gear multiplication) is the name of the game.

Now do a search (and dont ask what gears) and install them!!!

Also, the 4.6's lack of low end torque will only get more noticeable if you add cams that are aggressive enough to add much power on the top end (in fact if you add cams you will need to get some gears too to take advantage of them). Gears get you in the power band in a hurry and your car will feel faster and be more enjoyable to drive throughout the rev range.
